Housing affordability is top of mind for families across Illinois. This week, I joined Illinois REALTORS for their “Let’s Talk Real Estate” Townhall to discuss the market, challenges, and solutions that strengthen our communities.
Republican cuts to SNAP affects all of us: SNAP cuts ➡️ Farmers lose business ➡️ Rural communities suffer ➡️ Grocery prices rise Trump’s trade war already cost farmers overseas clients—now Republicans are making it harder at home. We must support the people who feed America. buff.ly/LaeAWkr
Donald Trump loves to brag about ratings. Here’s a rating he can’t spin: 61% of Americans oppose his “Big Beautiful Bill.” Only 39% favor it. The verdict is clear—Americans think his bill is UGLY.
Outside the ICE Broadview center, I joined our community in demanding answers. Behind locked doors and boarded windows, too much remains hidden. Dignity, transparency, and accountability are not optional—they are owed to every person regardless of immigration status.
Families are already stretched thin by high prices at the grocery store and gas pump. Republicans' failure to save health care tax credits means 2026 premiums will soar an average of 75%. Families, seniors, and rural communities will be hit the hardest.
Great catching up with mayors and trustees from our District and across Illinois at the Illinois Municipal League. Their dedication keeps our state moving forward, and I’m proud to support & cheer them on every step of the way.
Grateful to receive Black Millennial Renaissance Appreciation Award as Honorary Board Co-Chair. My entire career, I’ve worked to expand opportunity, advance wellness, and end gun violence. I’m proud to support the young leaders who are shaping a brighter future for us all.
I’m heartbroken to hear of the loss of Ryan Whitehouse —an advocate for farmers, leader, and friend to all. His generosity lives on through the gift of life. My prayers are with his family and his IL. Farm Bureau family, who stood by him every step and will carry his spirit forward.
I led my Tri-Caucus colleagues and 81 Members of Congress in demanding Sec. McMahon reject cuts to minority-serving institutions. We can uplift HBCUs & TCUs without draining $350M from PBIs and other MSIs that millions of students of color rely on for opportunity.
Honored to receive the Cancer Champion Award for my work expanding cancer prevention and early detection. I do this in memory of lives lost, warriors currently fighting against cancer, and all impacted by this disease.
In 6 DAYS, the government shuts down, & Republicans are nowhere to be seen. President Trump chickened out & cancelled a meeting with Democrat leaders. Affordable healthcare, food assistance, & vital services are on the line. I am joining @housedemocrats.bsky.social to protect everyday Americans.
My heart is with the families of those killed and injured at the Dallas ICE facility this morning. As we continue to hear more information, one thing is clear: Gun violence affects all of us — whether you’re law enforcement, an immigrant, or a citizen. We need commonsense gun safety laws.
House Republicans are playing a dangerous game with access to affordable healthcare. Their refusal to extend ACA funding threatens to cause premiums to skyrocket for millions. @housedemocrats.bsky.social and I are fighting to stop Republicans’ reckless attempt to dismantle our healthcare.
Republicans are marching our country toward a shutdown in 7 days. Here’s what that means for you: ❌ Longer lines at the airport ❌ Limited Social Security services ❌ Delayed veteran benefits ❌ Closed National Parks Everyday Americans pay the price—because they refused to negotiate.
