My office is traveling to Pontiac — the most western part of the Second District. If you live in Pontiac or nearby and need help with a federal agency, my office will be at the Pontiac City Hall this Wednesday from 11 AM - 2 PM. For any questions, call my Danville office at 217-516-4556.
Trump promised to lower the cost of living on day 1. On day 238, Americans are feeling the pain of President Trump’s reckless tariffs and policies that raise costs of healthcare, groceries, and utility bills.
The ACA provides affordable healthcare options for many Americans. House Republicans' failure to renew the ACA tax credits will raise the already high insurance premiums for those who rely on those benefits. House Democrats are ready to act to lower healthcare costs.
Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. President Trump’s policies threaten to strip coverage from 535,849 Illinoisans. I will not stand by while our families' health and financial security are put at risk. I'm dedicated to lowering costs & expanding access for everyone.
Had a great visit at the IBEW Local 9 training site in Tinley Park! I saw how they're bringing young adults into the trades, and training them to keep our electrical and communication wires, rail roads, and traffic signals running efficiently. 🚂🚦🔌
I met with doctors & a registered nurse from Chicago who courageously ran toward cries for help in Gaza. Their accounts shed light on the unimaginable suffering & urgent humanitarian needs of Palestinians.

Thank you for sharing the truth of what you witnessed.
For justice to be served for Jeffrey Epstein's victims, we must have full transparency. Right now, the White House is doing what it does best: protecting the elite. I will keep fighting to ensure the Epstein Files are released and the truth comes to light.
The wrath of gun violence does not care for political party, city, suburbs, or rural communities, income or education level, color of skin. Gun violence impacts all of us. As a country, we must come together to condemn gun violence in every form and take action.
Chicago has deterred President Trump from deploying the National Guard, but I remain vigilant. His attention is now on Memphis, another city run by a Black mayor that’s experienced a downward trend in crime. Cities need CVI support. Not the National Guard.
Hard-working families deserve affordable healthcare, not rising premiums. It is unacceptable that Republicans are letting ACA tax credits expire, triggering a $23 billion tax hike for American families. We must put people over politics and lower healthcare costs.
It is deeply terrifying that HBCU students and faculty are once again targets of hateful extremism. As long as they have existed, HBCUs have been a refuge for Black students to learn. We must do everything we can to protect students and ensure they can continue their education without fear.
Alabama State University, Hampton University and Virginia State University locked down the morning of Sept. 11 after threats were made against all three campuses.
24 years after September 11, 2001, we pause to honor the innocent lives lost, the survivors, and the heroes who answered the call to danger. I will #NeverForget them and remain grateful to all who served our nation in its darkest hour.
House Republicans cut renewable energy programs by 47%. Instead of improving the lives of families across America, Republicans are lining the pockets of Big Polluters, increasing energy costs for Americans, and jeopardizing energy independence.
Political violence is never the answer & will never be accepted. I’m thinking of Charlie Kirk, his family, all those who witnessed this traumatic shooting at Utah Valley University, and students of a school shooting in Colorado today. Gun violence affects all of us and it must end.
We must pass a bipartisan bill that supports all service members and their families.    I will not stand for discriminatory riders that hurt those who protect us. This is a matter of collective responsibility. Our heroes deserve better.
Tomorrow, the House will debate SIX Republican amendments to the FY26 National Defense Authorization Act that attack LGBTQI+ servicemembers, DoD employees, and their families. We urge the House to unite against these attacks on our servicemembers and REJECT these amendments!
Republicans are trying to add six anti-LGBTQI+ amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act. REPUBLICAN NDAA AMENDMENTS: TWO HEALTHCARE BANS for transgender people and their families, including banning mental healthcare for servicemembers’ trans children; ASSIGNING CADETS TO TEAMS BASED ON THEIR REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM for women’s sports at U.S. military service academies; CREATING A TRANS BATHROOM BAN at all U.S. military installations; BANNING DATA COLLECTION on troops’ and employees’ gender identities; BANNING THE PRIDE FLAG from all Department of Defense workplaces.
