A year ago, Octavia Redmond, a dedicated postal worker like my own mother, was shot and killed on her route. Her death underscores the urgent, heartbreaking reality: we need federal gun reform. We can start by passing my Federal Firearm Licensee Bill.
I'm proud to introduce the Gun Safety Incentive Act with @carson.house.gov & @mcbath.house.gov. This commonsense bill offers a 10% tax credit for certified gun safes and safe storage best practices by the DOJ. Safe storage is key to responsible gun ownership.
My heart goes out to Breonna Taylor's family and all those still fighting for justice. Her life mattered, and the recent sentencing recommendation for an officer involved in her death is a difficult reminder of the work ahead. We must continue to push for a justice system that values Black lives.
This is unacceptable. The Trump admin is handing over sensitive Medicaid data to ICE, jeopardizing everyone’s privacy and safety. Healthcare access must NEVER be a tool for deportation. We must fight for our immigrant neighbors.
11 years ago, Eric Garner spoke his last words: "I can't breathe." That cry for help should have ignited change, yet the fight for police accountability continues. We need national use-of-force standards, an end to qualified immunity, and real consequences for misconduct.
I’m remembering my dear friend, Congressman John Lewis, five years after we lost him. His words continue to inspire me: "Answer the highest calling of your heart." John & I organized a sit-in to demand action on gun violence, and I still carry his legacy of #GoodTrouble .
Medicaid isn’t a scam. SNAP isn’t a scam.
The majority of people on Medicaid or SNAP are fully employed, caregivers, or senior citizens who deserve a peaceful retirement.
President Trump cut a lifeline for hardworking Americans to give a $4.5 trillion tax break to the wealthy few.
Release the Epstein files, Trump.
Black women’s pain is often ignored in the doctor’s room. I refuse to let their pain go unheard in Congress.
At a roundtable with Lupita Nyong’o, who has uterine fibroids, we discussed how we can increase access to treatment and provide resources to women with uterine fibroids.
Americans are paying the price for Trump’s shortsighted trade war.
Inflation continues to rise. Prices continue to rise.
This is Trump’s economy.
President Trump never takes responsibility for his own actions — he only blames others.
The families of victims from the Texas flood deserve answers, not excuses.
Our communities deserve a well-equipped FEMA response, not a gutted federal agency.
Our country deserves a real leader.
Republicans knew that slashing Medicaid was wrong. But they decided to exacerbate our maternal mortality crisis anyways.
As I told POLITICO, I will continue the fight toward reproductive justice so every mother and baby have the resources they need to thrive.

The Trump admin is obsessed with people having babies — but Trump isn’t lowering childcare costs or maternal death rates. His cuts to Medicaid made it worse.
Americans don’t want more babies. They want the choice, safety, and affordability to have babies.
LIVE NOW: I'm on @lastword.msnbc.com to share what I heard at a townhall in New Orleans. It's the same concerns I'm hearing in Illinois. People are scared about their healthcare and what Republican cuts to Medicaid mean for them.
Last night in Speaker Johnson’s home state of Louisiana, people told @housedemocrats.bsky.social & I that they’re terrified of what the Big, Ugly Law means for their healthcare.
Medicaid is a lifeline for families — and Republicans cut it.

Republicans cut Medicaid as we face a maternal mortality crisis. Their actions will have deadly consequences.
Regina Moss with @blackwomensrj.bsky.social and I talked with @politico.com about Black maternal health and how we can continue to advance reproductive justice:

Last night I hosted a Town Hall with @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, @robinkelly.house.gov, @wassermanschultz.house.gov, & @repbarragan.bsky.social. Today we’re holding a press conference to continue discussing how we’re fighting back. Watch: www.youtube.com/live/now4Y9j...
Last week, President Trump signed into law a historic $1 trillion cut to Medicaid, stealing healthcare from 17 million Americans.
Republicans betrayed their own constituents, and the people deserve answers.
Watch our townhall LIVE tonight at 6 p.m. CT: www.youtube.com/live/D5VLWdn...
I’m leading a townhall in New Orleans on Trump’s Big, Ugly Betrayal with @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, @reptroycarter.bsky.social, @wassermanschultz.house.gov & @repbarragan.bsky.social.
We’ll be in the home state of Speaker Johnson to tell Louisianans exactly who stole their healthcare.
Black women know our own worth. It’s time we get paid what we deserve.
But a Black woman only earns 66 cents for every dollar a white man earns.
On this Black Women Equal Pay Day, I continue to speak out to correct the pay gap between Black women and white men.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
