President Trump’s decision to immediately stop working with the WHO is a reckless move that puts global health at risk. This undermines efforts to coordinate a unified response to pandemics and makes it harder to address emerging health threats. apnews.com/article/cdc-...
Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and a reminder of the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust. It is a time to reflect on lessons from history and recommit to standing against antisemitism.
It’s been 12 years since the ban on women serving in direct combat in the US military was lifted. Since then thousands of brave women have served in combat roles. Grateful for the servicewomen putting their lives on the line for our country Great historical overview at: www.uso.org/stories/3005...
As climate change worsens, emergency preparedness is more crucial than ever. While improvements to FEMA are needed, it's a life-saving agency people rely on. We should be providing more support for FEMA as we navigate a new era of extreme weather, not threatening to eliminate it.
President Donald Trump suggested at a Friday briefing on North Carolina’s hurricane recovery that he would sign an “executive order to begin the process of fundamentally reforming and overhauling FEMA, or maybe getting rid of them.” Live updates here.
Last year, I toured a local Planned Parenthood in my district that offers critical preventative health care for families & I heard how the loss of Roe v. Wade protections in other states has led to demand for more services in CA. Dobbs has real consequences even in states with reproductive rights.
Since Dobbs v. Jackson, millions of women have lost access to crucial, life-saving healthcare. Bodily autonomy decisions should be kept between healthcare providers and patients. On the 52nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, I join @reprocaucus.bsky.social in protecting your reproductive rights.

Busy week in DC. Got to attend my first mtg as a member of the Energy & Commerce Committee @energycommerce.bsky.social. Excited to serve on 3 subcommittees: Energy, Commerce, and Oversight & Investigations. Looking forward to working on policies to address climate change & advocating for families!
It's despicable that there are scammers looking to take advantage of people who've suffered as a result of disasters like the #LosAngelesFires. Some helpful tips on what to look out for: apnews.com/article/disa... Make sure to apply directly to FEMA for federal assistance at: disasterassistance.gov
Establishing a new U.S. State Partnership Program with California and Mexico would help ensure agencies like CalFire can continue to work collaboratively with our neighbors who can offer a helping hand during widespread disasters. 🧵2/2
Grateful for all the first responders who’ve been working tirelessly to fight the #LosAngelesFires. This is a great example of why last year I wrote to Secretary Blinken in support of the U.S. establishing a new State Partnership Program with California and Mexico. 🧵1/2
72 firefighters and emergency personnel have arrived from Mexico to help respond to the Los Angeles Fires. Emergencies have no borders, and we are deeply grateful to President @claudiasheinbaum.bsky.social for your unwavering support during one of California’s greatest times of need.
Now is not the time for the GOP’s political finger pointing, spreading misinformation or stoking fear. We need to be focused on coming together in support of the victims and the community. www.cnn.com/2025/01/09/p... apnews.com/article/trum... 2/4
