Happy Earth Day! Started the day off with a Community Cleanup in Elizabeth, followed by an important conversation at the Hackensack River Nation Summit.
Everyone deserves clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and safe green spaces to play. That's what we're fighting for 🤝🌎🌲

Join me and @newjerseyoag.bsky.social for a Town Hall this Thursday at 6:00pm. We’ll focus on our efforts to protect our democracy and strengthen our communities in response to the first 100 days of the Trump Administration. Space is limited, and RSVP is required. More: menendez.house.gov/townhall
This follows the president of NY Helicopters saying that “these are machines, and they break.” It makes it impossible to trust these operators to put safety first. We are looking at all options to hold them accountable.
In the wake of the recent helicopter tragedy in Jersey City that took six lives, operators like FlyNYON offered discounts to get people back in helicopters instead of pausing operations to ensure the utmost safety.
This is an all hands on deck approach, and I’m proud to be partnering with so many in our community who are committed to change.
In the district, I was grateful to attend Black Maternal Health celebration in Jersey City hosted by Councilwoman Denise Ridley to speak with advocates and provide an update on our work in DC.
The most important step we can take is passing @underwood.house.gov’s Momnibus Act. I’m a proud cosponsor, and am committed to helping get it passed into law.
We are humbled to have a portrait of LaKeshia Burton outside of our office in DC. She passed away on April 11, 2023. Her story is a reminder of the work we must do to save lives.
To create more awareness during Black Maternal Health Week, we honored - with the help of @reprashida.govpeeps.us - the memories of some of the women who we’ve lost.
It is unacceptable that in 2025 Black women are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause.

This Administration has proven once again that they will stop at nothing to inflict fear upon our immigrant neighbors. That’s why I led 48 House Democrats in demanding that the Administration and HUD reverse course and avoid this unnecessary harm. More: menendez.house.gov/hudletter
DOGE is collecting federal data to remove immigrants from housing, jobs
Officials working with the U.S. DOGE Service are pushing agencies to turn over information on where people work, study and live.

The Trump administration mistakenly sent emails to Ukrainian refugees with temporary legal status, urging them to leave immediately or "the federal government will find you."
This behavior is unacceptable — @menendez.house.gov and I led a letter condemning it.
Two weeks ago, DHS erroneously sent a letter to Ukrainians living in the U.S. legally telling them that they must leave the country. This was a terrifying shock to so many families. Along with @quigley.house.gov and 37 of our colleagues, we’re demanding answers.. More: menendez.house.gov/u4uletter
Elizabeth City Council has made clear that a sale of the former Union County jail must not result in another private detention center in our community. Grateful for their courage - as well as Commissioners Leon, Granados, and Delisfort - to stand up for what's right. We are in this fight - together.
We must stand united in this moment and fight for the future of our country - together.
