It’s back to school season and Americans across the country are paying more for school supplies thanks to Trump’s tariffs and the Big Ugly Law.
Trump and Republicans are so focused on giving tax breaks to their ultra-wealthy friends, they're increasing costs for families sending kids to school.
This landmark law is a lifeline for millions of pregnant and postpartum workers, ensuring they don’t have to choose between their health and their paycheck.
I will never stop fighting to protect it.
Great news: the Fifth Circuit has upheld my Pregnant Workers Fairness Act as constitutional and fully enforceable in Texas. I was proud to have joined an amicus brief defending its constitutionality as the law’s House sponsor and author.
Elections are regulated by Congress and the states, not the President. Trump wants to interfere with the integrity of the midterm elections. We won’t let him.
The right to vote is essential and I will never support anything that makes it harder for people to cast their vote.
I visited The Bristal Senior Residence at York Ave this afternoon to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Social Security and talk to New Yorkers who are worried about its future. We must keep working to protect Social Security from the Republicans who are trying to gut this earned benefit.
I will never stop fighting for Americans and making sure the benefits they earned are accessible.
I joined Social Security Workers United to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Social Security and to call for full staffing of SSA. The Trump Administration is firing workers, closing offices, and threatening the benefits that millions of seniors rely on.
Today I hosted a round table with @protectourcare.org, @legalaidnyc.bsky.social, and Mount Sinai Health System to discuss the GOP’s Big Ugly Law that rips away healthcare for millions of Americans and funds tax breaks for billionaires.
I will continue fighting to repeal it and protect Americans.
It is imperative we allow the impacted communities sufficient time to voice their concerns on a project that will have generational consequences.
Today, I led @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, @ocasio-cortez.house.gov, and @velazquez.house.gov in a letter to @governor.ny.gov and @dec.ny.gov requesting that they extend the public comment and hearing period for the Williams NESE Pipeline.
I also got to stop by VA NY Harbor who was outside providing essential resources and services.
This morning I visited Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen and saw firsthand the work they are doing to provide nutritious food every weekday to anyone who needs it.
I will always make sure no New Yorker ever goes hungry and I am glad to work alongside Holy Apostles to do that.
While New York already has a strong universal background check law, only a federal law like the Bipartisan Background Checks Act would reduce the flow of guns trafficked into New York from other states.
The Act would ensure a background check is performed before all firearm purchases.
Over 80 percent of guns traced at crime scenes in New York by the ATF originate from out of state, including states that allow private gun sales without a background check.
Following the devastating mass shooting in Midtown Manhattan last month, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, @mikethompson.house.gov, and I led NY House Democrats in a letter calling on NY Republicans to support the Bipartisan Background Checks Act.

I will continue fighting against Trump’s careless cuts that threaten their programming to help New Yorkers in need.
It was great to meet with @NYCommonPantry’s Executive Director Stephen Grimaldi and Deputy Director Judy Secon today. We discussed food insecurity, the rising cost of groceries thanks to Trump’s tariffs, and the important work they are doing.
I applaud this lawsuit to force ICE’s operations out of the shadows and finally hold them accountable. I will continue fighting to shine a light on the actions the Trump Administration is trying so hard to hide.
ICE refused to let me in when I tried to visit 26 Federal Plaza. It’s clear as day ICE doesn’t want the public to see the true condition of their detention facilities.
NEW: A Peruvian immigrant filed a potential class-action lawsuit against ICE over conditions at 26 Federal Plaza.
The suit said migrants sleep on the floor, lack access to legal counsel and are subjected to a “horrific stench” emanating from toilets.

This is deeply troubling and we all know there is no basis for any investigation. I stand with AG James who has been a leader in NY and across the country for holding Trump accountable to the tune of $450 million for his record of corporate fraud.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
