1/ This is the sign hanging on the door of the Springfield Vet Center after the VA cut thousands of employees in February. Now, the administration is cutting an additional 80,000 workers and threatening to terminate contracts with critical entities like the National Center for PTSD.
After years of hard work and a lifetime of contributions, our seniors shouldn't have to worry about Republicans meddling with their Social Security. This is an attack on our nation's seniors - plain and simple.
NEW: In an email obtained by The Bulwark, the acting Social Security administrator made clear they're going to outsource-privatize operations. The expectation is it will be the call centers that seniors depend on. w/ @cheetah.bsky.social www.thebulwark.com/p/elon-is-co...
Pursuing a trade war with our allies does nothing but raise prices & put jobs at risk. The outlook for economic growth has plummeted into the negative, consumer sentiment has plunged, & small businesses & farmers fear what’s to come. The silence from our Republican colleagues is deafening.
Breaking: President Trump said the U.S. will go ahead with 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico Tuesday, accelerating a selloff in stocks. The Dow lost more than 700 points.
These cuts will affect every part of American life. Cutting Medicaid, SNAP, and other programs that everyday Americans rely upon to justify giving billionaires tens of millions of dollars? Their response? A family of four will receive $1,700. Shameful. youtu.be/p6wLmYl545Q?...
2/ Rather than supporting and investing in this beloved centuries-old agency established by Congress through its constitutional authority, we are witnessing another attempt at executive overreach on the part of the President.
3/ On this Presidents' Day, we thank those leaders like Washington who led with great honor, courage, compassion, and integrity, who understood the significance of the office and our democratic institutions, and were grateful for the honor and privilege of working on behalf of the American people.
1/ The first Presidents' Day was celebrated in 1879 as a tribute to George Washington. Despite the overwhelming adoration he received, President Washington recognized the importance of setting a precedent to prevent the kind of tyranny he fought to subvert.
2/ We will continue working to uphold our constitutional system and fighting back against the executive overreach we have witnessed over these last three weeks.
1/ THANK YOU to the more than 8,000 constituents who joined my telephone town hall last night. I heard every one of your concerns about the new administration, and they are shared by my Democratic colleagues and I.
2/ To join, dial 888-480-3626. If you receive a call from my office, stay on the line and you will be connected to the town hall. If you aren’t able to join us tonight but have questions, please call or email my office. I want to hear from you.
1/ Over the last three weeks, I've heard from countless constituents concerned about many of the actions taken by the Trump Administration. Tonight, join me for a telephone town hall at 6:30 PM EST to discuss how we are fighting back against against this executive overreach.
I'm all for saving taxpayer money. The last time we had a balanced budget was under President Clinton. And then what happened? Republicans gave away the house to the rich with tax handouts in '01, '03, and '17 to the tune of $10 trillion.
House Republicans release a budget resolution that calls for cutting taxes by up to $4.5 trillion and sets a goal of slashing federal spending by $2 trillion. The resolution also would raise the debt limit by $4 trillion.
What's being targeted in the Republican budget proposal? ❌ The Affordable Care Act ❌ Medicaid & CHIP ❌ SNAP Here's what this may look like in MA-01.
Executive Order 14149, "Restoring Freedom of Speech and Ending Federal Censorship," highlights the importance of our First Amendment & how it's essential to our Republic. Threatening a news outlet with White House access to force your own narrative doesn't sound like upholding the First Amendment.
"Today we were informed by the White House that if AP did not align its editorial standards with President Donald Trump’s executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America, AP would be barred from accessing an event in the Oval Office." www.ap.org/the-definiti...
