America deserves a HUD Secretary who will tackle the fair & affordable housing crisis. But @secretaryturner.bsky.social is failing the people & sitting on the sidelines. Trump and Republicans are using him as the poster child for their anti-DEI crusade, and the people deserve better.
Lisa Cook is a brilliant economist who belongs on the Federal Reserve. Trump's attempt to fire her is a baseless, unlawful, and anti-Black power grab that threatens Fed independence. The Supreme Court must uphold the law and rein in this unprecedented abuse of power.
Breaking News: The Supreme Court seems poised to reject President Trump’s bid to immediately remove Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve Board, with key justices expressing concern about undermining the longstanding independence of the central bank.
Today, we used the power of the Congressional gavel to listen, bear witness, & stand in strong solidarity with our Haitian neighbors. Our hearing made clear that terminating TPS for over 350,000 Haitians is cruel and it is a death sentence. And Trump must reverse course NOW.
A year into Trump's second term, I'm grateful for the everyday people who've stood strong in the face of cruelty. In today's @bostonglobe.com, I wrote about why democracy is still ours to defend, and how the only way to beat a dictator is with defiance.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote the blueprint for our survival. Today, we take our cues from him — not from insecure, wannabe kings who traffic in hate. Together, we'll continue resisting authoritarianism, because “right temporarily defeated is stronger than evil triumphant.”
In his last speech, Dr. King reminded us that the greatness of America is the right to protest for rights. His words are as relevant today as they were then. In the face of authoritarianism, we'll always remain active, engaged, and relentless in our pursuit of justice.
Coretta Scott King wasn't just a grieving widow who picked up a mantle. She was already an effective strategist and activist who wrote the blueprint for our survival. And she reminded us that freedom is never really won — you have to earn it and win it in every generation.
We cannot stand idly by while rogue ICE agents ravage our communities, brutalize families, and kill our neighbors. Our bill sends a powerful message to everyone in America—citizen or not—that when ICE agents break the law, they should and will be held accountable.

Solidarity with the people of Iran as they fight for their humanity, independence, & right to self-determination from a violent, authoritarian regime. From Massachusetts and Minnesota to the Middle East and beyond, our freedoms and our destinies are tied.
Breaking news: Hundreds of demonstrators have been killed in Iran, rights groups said Sunday, as reports of a dramatic escalation in the use of deadly force by security forces as they struggle to contain the protests.
HUGE: After we fought back, Trump is delaying his cruel plans to seize the wages & tax refunds of folks behind on their student loans. This would've been devastating for borrowers & our economy—& it should never happen. Congress must pass our bill to end garnishment permanently.
Education Sec. Linda McMahon told reporters that wage garnishment for defaulted student-loan borrowers has "been put on pause for a bit."
Suspending immigrant visas for 75 countries is a cruel, racist, and xenophobic policy that does nothing to keep America safe. It is a betrayal to families who have played by the rules & waited years to be reunited with their loved ones. The Trump Admin must reverse course.
BREAKING: The U.S. will suspend immigrant visa processing from 75 countries whose nationals are deemed likely to need public assistance.
When we fight, we win. After Trump tried to cancel billions in funding for mental health programs, we fought back. And now, the Administration is backing down. I'll keep fighting to ensure everyone can access the mental health services & wraparound care they deserve.
Breaking News: A day after the Trump administration said it was cutting $2 billion in mental health funding, it reversed itself and reinstated the money.
