In the meantime, I, my staff, and constituents kept each other safe. We walked kids to school, we trained each other on non-violent responses to violent raids, and we signed up to help each other with food and other assistance.

Nothing this administration is doing is keeping us safe. Deploying tear gas in front of children is an absurd ‘safety’ strategy.
U.S. citizens were detained and agencies refused to communicate with the families or with my office on their whereabouts.
The so-called party of ‘law and order’ were the perpetrators of dangerous chaos in my district this past week. ICE agents deployed tear gas without warning, nearly ran over an Alderman, and tackled people in the middle of the day who were trying to work to put food on the table for their families.

This week’s arguments in Shilling v. Trump affirmed what we already knew to be true: there’s no basis for Trump’s trans military ban — just cruelty and discrimination.
The Ninth Circuit must block the so-called “Hegseth Policy” banning trans people from serving in the military.
I look forward to Ruben's release and reunion with his family — including his 16-year-old daughter, Ofelia, who continues to battle stage 4 cancer while fighting for him.
In a hearing on Friday, a federal judge ruled that ICE ILLEGALLY detained Ruben, and that he must be given a bond hearing by the end of the month. (continued below)

I guess cutting billions from SNAP in his Big Ugly Bill wasn’t enough for Trump. Now, he’s choosing —yes, this is a choice — to not give families the critical food assistance they need to feed their families.
But under Trump’s tariffs, the cost of Howe’s materials is skyrocketing.

Yesterday I volunteered with Greeley Elementary’s walking school bus — where school faculty and staff walk kids to school to protect them and their parents from ICE.
