I’m proud to cosponsor the Protect Local Funding Act to stop political appointees and MAGA loyalists from taking an unprecedented role in reviewing, approving, and rejecting funds for Illinois residents already paid for in their taxes.
As a member of Congress, part of my job is to bring federal funds home to Chicago for local projects. But with Project 2025 in full force, the Republican majority has injected partisan politics into the funding process.
From defending HOPWA housing for people with HIV/AIDS, to protecting funding for HIV testing programs, I’m proud to keep our communities safe. 1 in 8 people living with HIV don’t know they have it. Do you #KnowYourStatus? Find testing & care services near you at HIV.gov/locator.
The Nazis did not start their persecution of Jewish people with gas chambers—they started by turning people against each other and stoking the flames of fear and hatred. We must remember this.
I recently visited the Anne Frank exhibit at @msichicago.bsky.social. Museum exhibits like these reminds us how essential it is to stand against antisemitism and hate today.
I'm joining @repbonamici.bsky.social in calling for the #impeachment of Education Secretary & former WWE head Linda McMahon. From firing the staffers who support special education to attempting to destroy the Department itself, McMahon has proven to be unfit to support America's students.
I was pleased to meet with Moldovan Ambassador Vlad Kulminski on strengthening the U.S.-Moldova partnership. Chicago is home to the largest Moldovan community in the United States, and I'm committed to standing with Moldovans as they resist Trump's tariffs and Russian aggression.
On #EqualityDay, we celebrate the anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court decisions in Obergefell v. Hodges, Lawrence V. Texas, and United States v. Windsor. I’m proud to be a Vice Chair of the @equality.house.gov and continue the fight to uphold fairness, dignity, and equality under the law.
I’m calling for Postmaster General Steiner’s resignation. Instead of getting Americans their mail on time, he's openly planning to help Trump steal the midterm elections.
I’m proud to deliver $500K in federal community project funding for Palatine Township. These funds will expand their food pantry and make the facilities ADA-compliant. With 19K+ residents served last year and many losing their SNAP benefits, this investment is more important now more than ever.
Trump’s Postmaster General is planning to stop delivering mail-in ballots for the same reason Trump is pushing the SAVE Act: he knows Republicans are going to get creamed in the midterms.   This is what happens when your party pushes bad economic policies and a doomed war in the Middle East.
As a proud @reprocaucus.bsky.social member, I’m fighting to make sure you, not politicians, are able to make decisions about your life, your health, and your body.
Today marks four years since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and eliminated the constitutional right to abortion. Republicans in Congress know that the rich and powerful will always be able to get the healthcare they want and need—they just don’t want you to have it.
Just before he was supposed to sign the historic ROAD to Housing bill, Trump chose to double-down on the SAVE Act—which even Mitch McConnell knows is a voter suppression hack.   Months before the midterms, Trump would rather censor voters than solve our housing crisis.
wow -- Trump is crashing out: "Today’s Housing News Conference and Signing is hereby cancelled until such time as we pass the desperately needed SAVE AMERICA ACT, which I consider to be a National Emergency. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT"

Chicago doesn't want the National Guard, Chicago doesn't need the National Guard. We've seen what happens when Trump "helps" & it only leads to more fear and violence. If Trump actually wants to help, he should support commonsense gun legislation at the federal level to keep guns off our streets.
We need to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act to establish nationwide laws ending gerrymandering and expand access to the ballot box for everyone.
This spring, the Supreme Court overturned the Voting Rights Act—letting partisan state legislatures pick and choose their voters. We're already seeing the consequences. States are redrawing their election maps and diluting the voting power of people of color, particularly Black voters.
The Senate just passed the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act! This bill will lower costs and reduce barriers to building new homes. Now, we need the House to pass it as well. We have a historic opportunity to come together and fight the housing crisis. Let's take it!
