DOGE's next target should be the White House, not cancer researchers, food safety inspectors and air traffic controllers. Trump is plundering the taxpayers and draining the coffers of the people. That's monarchy, not democracy.
We stand with Ulviyya Ali and journalists all over the world, including VOA employees let go by DOGE and Trump, against the police state censorship of authoritarians, dictators and kleptocrats. Democracy dies without press freedom.
During National Police Week, we honor local, state, federal and tribal police. Reminder: MAGA doesn't Back the Blue when they try to rewrite the dreadful history of the violent insurrection on January 6, 2021.
Today, Walmart joins all the retailers forced to raise their prices because of the Trump Tariffs. The Truth in Tariffs Act, my bill with @schumer.senate.gov, will show families just how much the Trump Tariff is costing us. Let's make Trump's national sales tax transparent.
America looks to the Supreme Court to defend birthright citizenship. President Trump cannot overthrow the 14th Amendment with an executive order. In America, we have a supreme Constitution, not a supreme leader.
Trump’s team says he can take a $400 million gift, Bribe Force One, from the dictator of Qatar because it’s transparent. Well, you can rob a bank in broad daylight but it’s still bank robbery. If he wants to keep this lavish gift, he must come to Congress for our consent. See Art. I sec. 9.
1 in 5 American women rely on Medicaid. MAGA’s budget destroys wellness and reproductive care for millions of them. I stand with women and families across the country saying ‘hell no’ to this MAGA wrecking ball.
The American Framers didn’t—& the American people don’t—want a president corrupted by foreign state money, gifts or luxury jets. Glad to join @brennancenter.org at the @constitutionctr.bsky.social to discuss the Emoluments Clause & the meaning of the Constitution & Articles of Confederation.
The VA’s work serving our vets isn't "waste, fraud and abuse." Honored to support advocates from @commondefense.bsky.social who are standing in the breach to fight GOP attempts to demoralize and privatize the VA.
“I would never be one to turn down that kind of an offer.” Truer words have never been spoken by Trump! But legality is a constitutional test—not a personality test. Is this a present “of any kind whatever” from a foreign state? It is—so Trump must seek Congressional consent.
Trump on getting a free luxury plane from Qatar: "I would never be one to turn down that kind of an offer."
The Trump Tariffs are hiking prices on groceries, cars and electronics. My and @schumer.senate.gov's Truth in Tariffs Act shows American families how much the Trump Tariffs are costing them. We have a right to know.
As we mark 50 years of Ride On bus service in Montgomery County, we honor MD-08 Local Hero Wayne Harding, a beloved MCDOT bus driver of 24 years who sings the praises of safe and efficient public transportation in our community.
Resplendent and ample talent on display at MD-08’s student art competition. Congratulations to all, including our winner, Katherine Xue of Richard Montgomery High School, with her detailed piece “Coming Home,” which will display in the Cannon Tunnel.
All fellow Marylanders can take pride in the work of Dr. Carla Hayden, who has provided remarkable leadership as the Librarian of Congress. Her sacking by Donald Trump, who knows little about Congress & less about libraries, is a scandal exposing his contempt for learning, literature & knowledge.
Donald Trump is taxing the American people with his tariffs, and they have a right to know exactly how much. I'm introducing legislation with @raskin.house.gov to require retailers to show consumers precisely how much the tariffs are increasing the prices of their products.
