Jamie Raskin

Jamin Ben Raskin is an American attorney, law professor, and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Maryland's 8th congressional district since 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he served in the Maryland State Senate from 2007 to 2016. The district previously included portions of Montgomery County, a suburban county northwest of Washington, D.C., and extended through rural Frederick County to the Pennsylvania border. Since redistricting in 2022, Raskin's district encompasses much of Montgomery County and a sliver of Prince George's County.

Many federal workers in MD-08 are facing rising health care costs since the Trump Administration jacked up their premiums. If you have an FEHB plan, check out my webinar to get guidance from benefits experts before Open Enrollment ends on 12/8:
This Thanksgiving, I’m sending deep gratitude to all my friends and neighbors in Maryland’s beautiful Eighth District, including more than 50,000 besieged federal workers, for their ongoing contributions to our community and our nation. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
On Thanksgiving we count the blessings of democracy and pray for the National Guardsmen brutally shot in Washington yesterday. Violence against troops and officers is intolerable in the Capital city or anywhere.
This Thanksgiving, we honor Manna Food Center CEO Craig Rice as our MD-08 Local Hero. Craig, his dedicated staff and his army of volunteers work all year long to keep our community fed. We thank them for their enduring and meaningful contributions to our friends and neighbors.
This week’s MD-08 Local Hero is Rebecca Henson, the inspiring Founder and Executive Director of the Springsong Museum. This exciting project in Silver Spring will memorialize the life and work of proud Marylander Rachel Carson, often identified as the founder of the environmental movement.
The homicidal Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to Washington has been a disgrace to American democracy. Trump’s thoughts on the assassination of Jamal Khashoggi: “things happen.” What he said about the epidemic of human rights violations in Saudi Arabia: nothing.
Taxpayers shouldn’t be subsidizing political speech. Representatives Clyburn and Huffman, Senator Wyden and I are calling on the Trump Administration to stop taking a wrecking ball to the separation of church and state.
The President of the United States just called for Democratic lawmakers to be killed. Trump is putting my colleagues’ lives at risk because they have exercised their free speech rights under the First Amendment and Speech and Debate Clause.
The House voted for a chance for justice and truth for the thousands of women and girls trapped in Epstein’s global sex trafficking ring. President Trump, it’s time to do what you should have done months ago: release the file now.
America overwhelmingly supports the survivors’ demand for complete disclosure of what the government knows about the billion-dollar Epstein global trafficking ring. Stop the excuses and deflections—release the file.
It’s Gun Buyback Day in Rockville until 1:00 PM. Thanks to Mayor Monique Ashton, State’s Attorney John McCarthy, Councilman Adam Van Grack and all Team Rockville for this excellent public service.
This week's MD-08 Local Heroes are Selim and Serkan Kantar, owners of the newly restored and wildly successful Olney Ale House. We celebrate them and Terri Hogan, who helped the brothers in their quest to revive this beloved Olney landmark.
Fresh from their six-week paid vacation, Speaker Johnson finally swore in Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva. A majority of the House has signed the discharge petition for full release of the Epstein File. Let’s vote.
Republicans are scrambling to cover up the Epstein file, but we say anyone involved in Epstein's billion-dollar child sex trafficking ring must be brought to justice—whether Republicans, Democrats or, yes, even presidents.
On Veterans Day, we honor all the men and women who have sworn the oath and devoted themselves to serving in our armed forces to protect the American Constitution, our democratic nation and the freedom of our people.   Today and every day, we honor their service and sacrifices.
Ahead of Veterans Day, we honor Don Champion as our MD-08 Local Hero for a career of service to America. A distinguished veteran and active leader in our community, Don gives back every day. Thank you for your wonderful service.
