90 years ago, Social Security became law. Since then, it’s never missed a payment. Now over 2 million Michiganders count on it. While Trump pushes to privatize Social Security, I am fighting to protect your hard-earned benefits so hardworking families across our state can retire with dignity.
As a Michigander, I’ve seen the damage that toxic chemicals like PFAS can do when we don’t act fast enough. Now microplastics are showing up from our water, to our air and even in our bodies. It’s time to understand the health risks. www.wzzm13.com/article/news...
We eat one credit card every week because of microplastics. These tiny particles have been found in our Great Lakes, our blood, and our organs, yet we don’t know how they impact us. I introduced the Plastic Health Research Act so we can understand the harm and fight back for a healthier future.
Grateful to meet with Michigan growers yesterday at MSU’s Northwest Horticulture Research Center. We had important conversations about how we can work in Congress to help them with rising prices and reckless cuts––and keep Michigan growing!
While Michiganders worry about rising violence across our state and country, Kristi Noem can’t even be bothered to answer basic questions like how many security officials she fired, or why she hired a counterterrorism director with no security experience. We deserve real answers.
Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) is pressing DHS for answers on why a 22-year-old ex-Trump campaign aide was tapped to lead an anti-terrorism office. punchbowl.news/article/hous...
60 years ago today Medicaid was signed into law. It now covers 1 in 4 Michiganders, keeping our children healthy, supporting rural hospitals, and helping families thrive. I’ll keep standing up for the care hardworking Michigan families count on. apnews.com/article/trum...
Trump’s trade deal with Japan is bad for Michigan. It sells out auto workers, ignores labor protections, and continues reckless tariff policy creating uncertainty for manufacturers. Where’s the deal for Michigan? We need fair, enforceable deals focused on strengthening manufacturing at home.
We need trade deals that raise standards—not reward the race to the bottom. This deal does the opposite. uaw.org/uaw-statemen...
We should be focused on lowering costs for Michiganders, not gutting trusted public services. But, my Republican colleagues pushed through cuts to public media that could strip $3M a year from Detroit PBS, threatening jobs, local news, education, and our emergency alerts. Michigan deserves better.
This is outrageous. Allowing ICE to access Medicaid records is a blatant violation of privacy. More than 3 million Michiganders rely on Medicaid. People shouldn’t have to choose between getting the care they need or protecting their privacy. This has to stop. www.theoaklandpress.com/2025/07/17/m...
The prevention of domestic terrorism is not optional— it’s a core homeland security mandate, and one that Michiganders are concerned about. In a moment of rising extremism and political violence, DHS must be fully resourced and appropriately led to meet this moment. www.axios.com/2025/07/16/d...
Every day is Tariff Day in the Trump administration - give me a break!! We need to get serious about taking on China, which is why I’m introducing the Unearth America’s Future Act, because with bold industrial policy, we can lower costs, create jobs, and end our dependence on China.
🚨NEW: Trump's so-called deal with China still lets them control our supply chains. That's why I'm introducing the Unearth America’s Future Act to lower costs for Michiganders, create jobs, and end dependence on China by bringing the supply chain for critical minerals home to America.
The measure would direct billions of federal dollars to boost mining and refining of essential materials like cobalt and lithium.
