I’ll keep working to hold the Administration accountable–and that starts with hearing directly from YOU.
After a productive telephone town hall earlier this week, we had a great community gathering in Cannon Township with local leaders and community members. Thank you for your thoughtful questions on federal funding cuts, job losses, and environmental protections. 🧵
I’m traveling across the district this week to talk to small business owners about how I can continue advocating for entrepreneurs at the federal level. Today I’m in Cannon Township at Acme Tire and Auto — a West Michigan institution since 1953.
This investment is a game-changer for Grand Rapids to ensure our infrastructure is safer, more accessible, and built to last.
Thank you to our state and local partners who helped get this across the finish line, let’s keep bridging communities together!
The East Beltline Bridge in Grand Rapids — once a rural roadway — is now a major thoroughfare that over 50K vehicles traverse every day. That’s why I’m thrilled to announce a $25 million federal grant I helped secure that will help fund a much-needed replacement of the bridge over I-96. 🧵
Always great to connect with local leaders such as East Grand Rapids Mayor Katie Favale to deepen our multilevel partnership and continue our work for West Michiganders.
I was grateful to connect with my Democratic Women's Caucus colleagues and host Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson on the importance of protecting voting rights!
This move will devastate hundreds of children and families right here in West Michigan. These funds were appropriated by the American people through Congress, so I’m working with my colleagues in Congress push back. www.woodtv.com/news/michiga...
I spoke with local leaders from Byron Township about the need for modernized infrastructure that serves our neighbors. As a member of @transportdems.bsky.social, I’m pushing back on cuts to crucial funding that would improve and modernize our communities.
I had a tough time deciding which books to get for my two boys today at Rolling Rabbit Bookstore — their selection is amazing! It’s always great to support one of West Michigan’s woman-owned small businesses.
Black-owned small business owners are transforming our local economy, and I’m determined to support them. I hosted a Black business roundtable at GRCCT to hear from entrepreneurs who are facing uncertainty because of the Trump Administration’s actions. I’ll always fight for our small businesses.
We're the home of the free because of the brave.
It was so meaningful today to thank dozens of West Michigan’s Black veterans for their service and recommit to advocating for veterans’ health care, housing, and other support services.
The dedicated men and women at the Michigan State Police Crime Lab use their STEM skills daily to help solve tough crimes and keep our community safer. This is an incredible asset to our community. Thanks for the great visit and tour!
In Grand Rapids, @rephaleystevens.bsky.social, East Grand Rapids Mayor Favale and I visited the MI State Police Crime Lab to see how they use state-of-the-art technology to keep our communities safe. I’m determined to support our first responders so they can continue protecting West Michiganders.🧵
What a meaningful conversation tonight with West Michiganders who tuned in for my telephone town hall. Hearing directly from you helps me do my job better. I’m listening, responding with action, and working to hold the Trump Administration accountable.
🚨 HAPPENING NOW: Tune in to my telephone town hall NOW by dialing 855-286-0280. Looking forward to speaking directly with you, West Michigan. 📲
Medicaid is a lifeline for 2.3 million Michiganders.
Today @rephaleystevens.bsky.social and I called on President Trump to stop playing political games with Medicaid. I’ve heard from countless families whose lives would be upended by this disastrous move — I won’t stand for it. #ProtectMedicaid
We’re so grateful for our Coasties for their service to keep Americans safe along our shorelines. As they told me today: no ice is safe ice, so be careful out there, West Michigan.
📲 HAPPENING TOMORROW! Hope to hear from you, West Michigan.
Today I had a chance to observe a training exercise of the U.S. Coast Guard’s ice rescue operations — one of the services our Coasties lead to save lives every winter. I’m determined to ensure they have the resources necessary to continue carrying out these crucial missions.
