In the event of an encounter with immigration agents in our community, make sure you and your family know your rights. For help with immigration casework call one of my offices: Napa Office: (707) 226-9898 Santa Rosa Office: (707) 542-7182 Woodland Office: (530) 753-5301
IF APPROACHED BY ICE AGENTS OR POLICE
You do not have to reveal your immigration status and have the right to remain silent.

IF ICE AGENTS COME TO YOUR HOME
You do not have to open the door.
Ask to see a search warrant through the window or for it to be slipped under the door. It must be signed by a judge and have your name on it.
A deportation warrant is not the same as a search warrant and does not authorize ICE agents to enter your home without permission.
You have the right to refuse ICE permission to enter your home if agents do not present a valid warrant.
If ICE agents enter without a valid warrant, ask for the agents’ names and badge numbers.

IF YOU ARE ARRESTED OR DETAINED
You have the right to speak to a lawyer immediately.
You or your family can call your congressmember to help connect you to legal services.
You have the right to remain silent and refuse to sign any documents without advice from an attorney.

His reckless trade policies killed U.S. export opportunities and hurt consumers. Our farmers deserve a leader who fights for them, not one who sides with foreign producers over American agriculture.
We’re now entering the fourth week of a government shutdown, and it’s been more than a month since the House last held a vote. Americans are facing higher healthcare premiums and grocery prices, and Speaker Johnson still has Congressional Republicans on vacation.
How can it be that under this administration in just 9 months our national debt jumped to $38 trillion? I thought for sure we'd see savings from dropping all those 300 year old people from government programs. apnews.com/article/trum...
Wildfires wreak havoc on our communities. Even after the fires are out, the lingering smoke can harm our health and damage our farms, ranches, and crops. That’s why I introduced legislation to tackle these health risks head-on and provide federal support for states working to improve air quality.
One of the last surviving Marines from the Battle of Iwo Jima, Mr. Scott used his artistic talent during the war to paint portraits of his fellow service members — gifts their families still treasure today. (2/3)
It was a privilege to meet Corporal James Allen Scott at the Yountville Veterans Home and present him with a certificate celebrating his 103rd birthday. He may be 103, but he looks and talks like he's in his 60s! (1/3)
As Chair of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, I was proud to help lead the effort to pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law, which stopped abusive boyfriends from accessing firearms and has already stopped thousands of illegal gun purchases, saving lives nationwide.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to recommit ourselves to protecting survivors and ending the cycle of violence. More than two-thirds of intimate partner homicides are committed with a firearm — a tragic reminder of what’s at stake.
Millions of Americans are about to see their healthcare premiums double, and over 340,000 people, including 20,000 here in California, could lose their jobs if ACA healthcare tax credits expire. That’s hundreds of thousands of families losing income, and millions more unable to afford coverage.
It was an honor to join Meals on Wheels Yolo County and Meals on Wheels Yuba/Sutter to celebrate their new partnership — and to thank Sutter Health for their investment supporting seniors across our region. Together, they’re making sure no senior is left hungry or forgotten.
While Americans face skyrocketing healthcare premiums, they’re on vacation instead of doing their jobs. This crisis is preventable, if only they showed up to work for the American people.
The House hasn’t voted since September 19 — more than a month ago. Congress can still vote on legislation during a shutdown, but Speaker Johnson and House Republicans have refused to bring the House back into session.
Speaker Johnson still refuses to swear in Rep.-elect Grijalva, leaving Arizona’s 7th District without representation for over three weeks since she won her election. It’s time to swear her in.
