On #SchoolBusDriverAppreciationDay, we celebrate the people who keep our students safe before the school day even begins and long after it ends. 🚌    Thank you for the commitment you bring to our communities every day!
As a 25-year Army veteran, I am appalled by the news that a U.S. service member bet on the capture of Nicolás Maduro using classified information.   If found guilty, he must be held fully accountable for his actions — which placed both the mission and the lives of his fellow soldiers at risk.
Congratulations to Curry Roberts, my “Constituent of the Week,” on his retirement after years of dedicated service as president of the Fredericksburg Regional Alliance at the University of Mary Washington.  I’m grateful for his contributions to our community, and I wish him well in retirement!
This weekend, I attended the Saving the Lives of Those Who Wear Camouflage Mobile App kickoff at VFW Post 1503 in Dale City.  Developed by PhD student Kenitha Woodhouse, the app is designed to expand mental health awareness and build self-efficacy among service members and their support networks.
My team attended the Prince William County Schools Outstanding Educators Ceremony, where several of our constituents were recognized for their impact in the classroom.  Congratulations to Sylvia Chan, Hirk Williams III, Carolyn Matthews, and Stephanie Bretzke on receiving this recognition!
In military operations, a few hours can mean the difference between mission success and catastrophe.  When someone with insider knowledge bets on military operations before they occur, they're putting the entire mission — and our U.S. service members — at risk.
Political violence undermines the very foundation of our democracy and must be unequivocally condemned. Thank you to the Secret Service, the Capitol Police, and all law enforcement for their swift response. I am relieved that the president and all attendees are safe.
I am appalled to hear that shots were fired at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner tonight. This event reflects our shared commitment to a free press, open dialogue, and the ability to speak and question those in power without fear. Political violence runs counter to all of those values.
The families of these American heroes deserve answers.  If there were failures in force protection or a gap between conditions on the ground and what Secretary Hegseth shared publicly, we have a responsibility to uncover the truth. (2/2)
Since six American service members were killed in Kuwait, serious questions have emerged about the circumstances that led to this tragedy.  That’s why I joined Rep. Pat Ryan and fellow veterans in Congress to demand an immediate investigation into the circumstances that led to this tragedy. (1/2)
Today, come say hi to Nathan from my team at Senator Mark Warner’s Service academy Day in Fredericksburg.    If you’re interested in applying to one of our nation’s service academies, stop by to get guidance on taking the next step toward serving our country.
The soldier accused of betting on the capture of Nicolás Maduro betrayed his oath and the trust placed in those who wear the uniform.  These illegal, unacceptable actions must be stopped before they endanger future operations and put American lives at risk.
It was great meeting students from Eastern View High School in Culpeper as they kicked off their school trip to Washington, D.C.   We had an engaging conversation about what it means to serve in Congress. Thanks for making the trip to Capitol Hill!
Yesterday marked 75 years since Barbara Johns led students in a walkout to protest racial discrimination in their schools.   Her courage helped pave the way for the end of school segregation.   Her statue representing Virginia in the U.S. Capitol is a reminder of the impact young people can have.
This administration has entered a war of choice in the Middle East without clear strategic objectives, even as its actions risk driving our global competitors closer together.  These choices risk destabilizing the region and undermining America’s long-term national security interests.
Their new mobile lab is a fully ADA-compliant sensory environment designed to expand access and bring inclusive, engaging experiences directly to residents with disabilities across our community.   I’m grateful for the work SPARC does to create opportunities for all Virginians. (2/2)
Last week, I attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Specially Adapted Resource Centers’ Mobile Exploration Lab with First Gentleman Adam Spanberger.   SPARC is a local nonprofit that provides affordable day programs for adults with disabilities. (1/2)
