Too often, the upfront cost of tools is a barrier for folks interested in pursuing a career in the building trades. I’m proud to lead a bipartisan bill that will allow apprentices and construction workers to write off the cost of their tools on their taxes.
I’m excited to announce that the 2025 Congressional Art Competition is open for submissions! High school students in #IL13 can submit their art to my office for a chance to have it displayed in the U.S. Capitol! Learn more: budzinski.house.gov/congressiona...
I voted NO on the House Republicans’ budget proposal. I will never cut a deal to fund tax breaks for billionaires by putting Medicaid at risk for 216,167 people in #IL13 – including 90,675 children and 18,000 seniors.
Happy National Ag Day! 🌽🌱
Farmers in Illinois and across the country feed and fuel us, and I’m proud to be a partner to them. That’s why I’m convening a roundtable tomorrow to hear directly from our community on how they are feeling in these uncertain times.
President Trump is rolling back executive orders that ensure the workers who build our roads and bridges get a fair wage and safe working conditions. As a proud union member, I strongly oppose this move to undercut labor standards on federally-funded projects. laborcaucus.house.gov/media/press-...
I introduced a bipartisan bill with Rep. Abe Hamadeh to help veterans pursue careers in good-paying fields like health care, engineering and computer science. Let’s get this bill across the finish line!
Our veterans deserve better than chaos and confusion when they try to access healthcare from the VA. Trump's indiscriminate firings of VA employees are an insult to every hero who has put their life on the line for America. www.wandtv.com/news/veteran...
I joined Rep. Jahana Hayes in calling on Speaker Johnson to resume Farm Bill negotiations. We need a bipartisan Farm Bill that protects SNAP benefits and supports corn and soybean growers in Illinois.
I wrote an op-ed about the bird flu outbreak wreaking havoc on U.S. agriculture. I'm ready to work with President Trump and USDA Secretary Rollins to contain the virus, stabilize the farm economy, & lower food prices. www.foxnews.com/opinion/fail...

Purging 10,000 postal employees is step one of President Trump’s effort to turn the USPS into a private business venture - which will lead to post office closures, delivery delays & higher prices for everyday Americans.

This is a HUGE win for every VA employee, and veteran, who was wrongfully fired by DOGE.
The Postmaster General’s plans to downsize the USPS in rural areas would mean even more delays for Central and Southern Illinoisans. I just introduced the bipartisan Protect Postal Performance Act to ensure changes to the USPS aren’t made on the backs of our rural communities.
When I came to Congress, I made a commitment to our communities that I would always seek common ground. Biofuels are the perfect opportunity for us to come together to benefit our farmers, consumers, environment, and economy.
Happy Holi to everyone celebrating in #IL13 and around the world! May the festival of colors bring you joy and happiness.
Louis DeJoy just admitted he agreed to hand over the Postal Service to Elon Musk. This is a blatant move toward privatization, and I will fight to protect our postal workers and ensure affordable service—especially for rural communities.
Telemedicine is a great way to break down barriers to health care in rural areas - especially for mental and behavioral health.
My Rural Wellness Act would help more communities access this technology and ensure that quality care is available for ALL.
Attention IL13! Severe thunderstorms are expected to hit the district Friday. Stay safe and follow these easy tips:
⛈️When you hear thunder, stop all outdoor activity and head inside.
⛈️If you are caught outside in lightning, seek shelter in a building or hard-topped car.
I always love the chance to meet with Illinois corn growers! We had a great conversation about creating new markets, investing in biofuels and strengthening crop insurance programs to support our farmers.
