Humans, we are hardwired for connection, but we are in a public health crisis of loneliness. I’m introducing a bill that specifically tackles this issue. By supporting our need for social connection, we will be taking steps to strengthen our democracy.
If you're doing some holiday shopping this weekend, please shop local and support your neighbors! Small businesses are the beating hearts of our community, and we all have to do our part to make sure they can thrive. #SmallBusinessSaturday
Happy Thanksgiving, Vermonters! Today we get to be with our closest friends and family to celebrate and feel grateful for those connections. I'm grateful to serve you in Congress and make sure rural communities have a seat at the table. Wishing you warmth and joy! 🦃🥧
71% of Americans believe the economy is rigged against them. They’re not wrong. 1973: Top 1% took home 9% of the income in the US 2023: Top 1% took home 26.5% of the income in the US Wealth created by millions of people greatly benefits a tiny group of extremely rich people.
There is not a single state in the US where the minimum wage is equal to the cost of living. There is nowhere in the nation that a single person can support themselves on minimum wage. We cannot accept this as normal.
Yes, Trump lied. By naming Russ Vought — the architect of Project 2025 — to lead the budget office, it is completely undeniable that Project 2025 will be the blueprint for his second term.
New in PN: Trump hoodwinked voters about his worst policy commitments "With lots of help from the media, Trump spent the campaign pretending that the hyper-conservative and deeply unpopular Project 2025 agenda was not the blueprint for his second term."
The digital divide is disproportionately affecting people who are incarcerated, low income, veterans, seniors, members of a racial or ethnic minority group, have disabilities, and who live in a rural area. Internet access is not a luxury. It's essential.
As a member of the bipartisan Rural Health Caucus, I met with rural hospital leaders this week to work together to improve healthcare access in rural communities. 15% of Americans live in rural areas. We need to make sure they can access the health care they need.
Yesterday, 19 senators voted to block the sale of more offensive weapons to the Netanyahu government. The United States cannot continue to fund this war that has brought unimaginable death and destruction to Gaza.
Housing NEEDS to be a part of the national political conversation. I introduced a sweeping housing bill because people are losing hope that they'll ever own a home or comfortably afford rent. We need to reimagine housing. Every American is feeling the effects of this crisis.
Housing and voting data show that the counties where it’s hardest to buy a home saw the biggest shifts toward Trump. Across the country Tuesday, counties moved toward Trump by a median of 3.1% ... But in the top 10% of counties ranked most difficult for buying a home, the median shift was 4.5%.
Today we observe Transgender Day of Remembrance to honor the trans people we have lost to anti-trans violence. Hate breeds violence, and trans allies must use our platforms and power to protect and support trans Americans. Trans lives matter.
What we’re witnessing is crass cruelty from Nancy Mace. As she chases more media attention, she stokes fear and hatred. For what? Social media likes, donors, and Trump’s favor. Sarah McBride, by the way, just wants to get to work for Delaware.
For those in Vermont who have a case open with our office related to immigration, we're working hard to address your case. We know this is an extremely uncertain and distressing time for so many families. We're here to help.
We all know this a petty, hateful distraction from the fact that she hasn’t delivered for her constituents. There's no bottom to the cruelty. We have an obligation to push back. When we allow attacks on someone’s basic human dignity, we're all made more cruel.
Democrats in Congress are still here to represent the 73 million Americans who rejected the Trump agenda. We'll stand firm in our actions to protect Social Security and health care, increase the federal minimum wage, hold corporations accountable, and stand up for working people.
