This morning, I voted against Senate Republicans’ rescissions package that claws back $9 billion for foreign aid & public broadcasting funding.
In the dead of night, Senate Republicans are forcing through legislation to gut funding for foreign aid & public broadcasting.
I joined @shaheen.senate.gov & Sen. Murkowski to push back with an amendment to restore $260M in assistance to Ukraine.
Senate Republicans just voted it down.
Today, I filed amendments to President Trump’s rescissions request that would protect funding for Ukraine and Paul Simon global clean water programs.
I urge my Senate colleagues to join me in preserving these strategic bipartisan programs and support these amendments.
Republicans voted against funding for critical mineral supply chains, cybersecurity infrastructure, and global health and assistance programs.
This rescissions package threatens the long-term safety, stability, and global leadership of our country and Republicans know it.
FFA does incredible work helping students towards great careers in the ag and food sector.
Today, I welcomed Illinois’ new FFA state leadership team in my DC office.
I’m unconvinced she learned the lessons of her failed predecessor Ed Martin.
I implore my Republican colleagues to hold a high bar for the top law enforcement officer in our nation’s capital—and reject this nomination.
And ultimately, she’s a Donald Trump loyalist, vengefully attacking his perceived political opponents and showing no willingness to put the rule of law ahead of the President’s wishes.
She’s an election denialist, recklessly peddling President Trump’s Big Lie despite even her own Fox News producers and executives warning her to reel it in.
She’s a January 6 apologist, siding with violent insurrectionists over law enforcement by supporting criminal charges against line prosecutors handling insurrection-related cases.
I met with Ms. Pirro as I do many nominees when extended a courtesy meeting ahead of potential committee action on their nomination.
Ms. Pirro’s record deeply troubles me as she’s considered to be a top law enforcement official.
I just met with Jeanine Pirro to discuss her nomination to be U.S. Attorney for D.C. 🧵
Senate Republicans just voted against protecting funding for public broadcasting even if it impairs the delivery of emergency alerts.
How does cutting funding for life-saving emergency alerts make America great?
Radio and TV stations across Illinois will lose funding if President Trump’s rescissions request passes.
And it’ll hurt our rural communities most.
Today, I’m voting to protect public broadcasting in Illinois and across the country.
Whether it’s harming kids or violating copyright laws, Big Tech only cares about its bottom line.
Congress must hold tech companies accountable.
Big Tech companies are training their AI models with copyrighted materials.
This sort of conduct is likely illegal, according to a judge.
Congress must regulate AI.
From lifesaving weather and news alerts to educational programming for children, public broadcasting keeps our communities safe and informed.
That’s what President Trump wants to take away from Americans.
“…Many local public broadcasting stations could go dark. And if they go dark, so do emergency alerts for millions of Americans. That's not just bad policy — it's dangerous.”- Craig Fugate, Former Administrator at FEMA on funding cuts to public broadcasting.
President Trump made $315 MILLION in fees by selling his worthless memecoin while 764,000 investors lost money.
We need guardrails to protect consumers on any crypto market structure bill, not loopholes that allow the President to profit millions from hardworking Americans.
Two weeks ago, Republicans used budget reconciliation to rip health care away from 17 million Americans. And tonight, they started the process of trying to claw back funding that has already been signed into law on a bipartisan basis.
President Trump wants to take away public broadcasting from Americans.
The American people deserve more news and information, not less.
I urge my Republican colleagues to join me in saving public broadcasting.
