⚓ Congratulations to the Class of 2029 for conquering the climb! As you begin the next steps of your journey, remember the lessons learned from today: with resilience and teamwork, you can accomplish anything. #GoNavy!
Since 1962, Naval Academy plebes have been challenged to rely solely on teamwork to climb the 21-foot Herndon Monument – while it's covered in nearly 200 pounds of vegetable shortening – and replace the Dixie Cup up top with an upperclassman’s cover to finish their plebe year and become midshipmen.
They’re also learning about conservation, so we talked about the work we can do together to get invasive blue catfish out of the Bay, clean up our parks, and increase shade for playgrounds and public areas. 🌳
It’s never too early to start learning about civic participation & protecting the environment! As part of earning their “My Community” badge, I spoke with the incredible & curious Webelos from Pack 617 about my work in Congress & the importance of participating in this great democratic experiment.
Marylanders: Election Day is coming up soon! In fact, the @MD State Board of Elections has already started sending out mail-in ballots 📩 If you haven’t already, you can create your voting plan now by registering to vote or requesting a mail-in ballot today at the link below.

President Trump’s unconstitutional and unjustified war in Iran is exacerbating the affordability crisis. Whether it's groceries, gas, or utilities, costs are skyrocketing – and Maryland families are the ones paying the price.
To date, #TeamElfreth has closed 2,053 constituent cases – that’s 2,053 neighbors we’ve been able to help with federal agency issues from Social Security to the VA to the IRS and more! One of those neighbors, Bill from Elkridge, had problems receiving his hard-earned pension from OPM.
Story from a constituent Bill from Elkridge: “After my retirement, when I received my final pension amount from OPM, it was significantly lower than expected. I contacted OPM several times but was unable to resolve the issue. I contacted Congresswoman Elfreth’s office, and within a day or two a caseworker was assigned. They contacted OPM on my behalf, kept me updated, and resolved the issue within a few days.”
He reminded us all of the unique roles we play in our community - and our obligation to each other and future generations to live with purpose and productivity. Thank you, Asbury, for letting me worship with you this morning!
In the 37 years since The Simpsons was created, we have gone from a middle-class family being able to get by with one working parent and three children as the norm – to that reality being out of reach for too many young people.
On the Beyond the Hyphen podcast, I spoke with Mark Li – an incredible high schooler at River Hill – about an issue that’s top of mind for so many young people in this country: the affordability crisis.
Whether it’s protecting crucial data for severe weather prediction and response or taking partisan politics out of our national parks, I’m committed to ensuring our natural treasures are preserved and accessible for all our neighbors for generations to come.
