We discussed their evolving role in regional security operations, the importance of securing our waterways for trade and national security, opportunities for us to collaborate on maritime operations, and more.

Supporting our NATO allies and advancing our shared security goals means coordinating with our allies every step of the way. This week, I sat down with the Deputy Chief Minister of Gibraltar – which is one of the most strategically important territories for the U.S. and our NATO allies.
Their bravery is just one example of how our first responders show up for our neighbors on their hardest days – even when that means putting their own safety on the line. Thank you again to these officers and to all the dedicated first responders whose unwavering service keeps our communities safe.
On June 11, 2023, Annapolis experienced a heartbreaking mass shooting that took the lives of 3 neighbors and injured 3 others. Amid the shock and horror, these officers worked to swiftly stabilize the scene and provide life-saving aid to the gunshot victims.
In honor of Police Week, I took a moment on the House Floor to recognize 20 incredible members of the Annapolis Police Department who received the Life Saving Award and the Meritorious Service Award for their heroism and outstanding service.
Simply put, this war is unconstitutional, unnecessary, and unpopular. As families back home struggle to keep up with inflation and this President provides no justification or strategy on the path forward, we must have some accountability.
The Constitution is clear: only Congress has the power to declare war, and it is beyond time we reassert our authority by passing a War Powers Resolution.
Once again, I voted to end hostilities in Iran. We are now 75 days into this war. 14 servicemembers have lost their lives. And we are spending $29 billion – all while Congress has been silent.
I’m so grateful I could join their cause and donate a few items ahead of a busy week in Washington. It’s their dedication that gives me hope and reminds us that the way we get through these difficult days is through more participation – not less.
For our neighbors who are struggling to get by, the team at Women’s Giving Circle is helping our most vulnerable in Howard County access menstrual products and other much-needed resources on their hardest days.
I might not have gotten the memo to wear pink, but I had an incredible time joining the Women’s Giving Circle for their Big Give 2026 Event!
I pushed Secretary Burgum for answers because the American people deserve transparency and accountability. While I didn’t get a clear answer, you can take a look at what he had to say above ⬆️
Yet, the Trump Administration recently changed this process to require Secretary-level approval of all grants over $50,000, meaning the Secretary would need to approve a grant every ten minutes every day until the end of the calendar year to get this critical funding out the door.
This is micromanagement at its worst. One of the most important roles of the Department of the Interior is to issue grants for communities across the country – communities represented by Democrats and Republicans alike.
⚓ Congratulations to the Class of 2029 for conquering the climb! As you begin the next steps of your journey, remember the lessons learned from today: with resilience and teamwork, you can accomplish anything. #GoNavy!
Since 1962, Naval Academy plebes have been challenged to rely solely on teamwork to climb the 21-foot Herndon Monument – while it's covered in nearly 200 pounds of vegetable shortening – and replace the Dixie Cup up top with an upperclassman’s cover to finish their plebe year and become midshipmen.
They’re also learning about conservation, so we talked about the work we can do together to get invasive blue catfish out of the Bay, clean up our parks, and increase shade for playgrounds and public areas. 🌳
It’s never too early to start learning about civic participation & protecting the environment! As part of earning their “My Community” badge, I spoke with the incredible & curious Webelos from Pack 617 about my work in Congress & the importance of participating in this great democratic experiment.
June 23rd will be here before you know it, so make a plan to make your voice heard!
