The devastating floods in the Hill Country brought heartbreak and loss to communities throughout Texas, especially in our district in Houston. While there is still much to be done to recover, today the House passed a resolution to honor the victims and those who risked their lives to help them.
Today is the 225th anniversary of the first meeting of the House at the U.S. Capitol.
While much has changed since then, the purpose of our work in these hallowed halls remains the same—as President Lincoln later said almost to the day—a government of, by, and #ForThePeople.
“We don’t have any inflation.”
“Inflation is almost nonexistent.”
“We have almost no inflation.”
Inflation—among other things, including the cost of groceries, gas, and home energy—is up.

If Trump and his powerful friends have nothing to hide, then they should have no problem supporting our effort to find the truth for Jeffrey Epstein's victims. I agree with the Houston Chronicle Editorial Board: it's time to release the full Epstein Files. www.houstonchronicle.com/opinion/edit...
Nearly a million people in #TX18 have been without representation in Congress for most of this year.
Glad to join my colleagues from Texas in urging Governor Abbott to set the runoff election date as soon as possible.

President Trump and congressional Republicans' refusal to renew the Affordable Care Act's tax credits will be devastating for all Texans' access to health care, but especially for our seniors. Read more here ⬇️ www.texastribune.org/2025/11/12/t...

🚨BREAKING: Oversight Dems have received new emails from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate that raise serious questions about Donald Trump and his knowledge of Epstein’s horrific crimes.
Read them for yourself. It’s time to end this cover-up and RELEASE THE FILES.
House Republicans rejected all of these amendments and more, refusing even to bring them to the floor for a vote. The have not merely failed in the work to find bipartisan agreement where possible—they have refused even to try. People in #TX07 and across this country deserve better. (8/9)
It doesn’t have to be this way. I co-sponsored several amendments to the bill, including amendments to remove the million-dollar payouts to Senators, extend ACA premium tax credits, and clarify the requirement to use SNAP contingency funds to in the event of a lapse in government funding. (7/9)
taking unprecedented actions from firing federal workers to refusing to spend food assistance funds Congress provided for hungry Americans. (6/9)
Accept the corruption and costs of this Senate bill as is, or accept the cruelty and chaos that the Trump Administration has brought to this government shutdown, (5/9)
Congressional Republicans have presented the House and the American people with a false choice. (4/9)
Instead, this bill does nothing to address the health care crisis, includes no input from House Democrats on short- or long-term funding provisions, and contains obscene provisions guaranteeing eight Republican Senators at least one million dollars each. I cannot vote for that. (3/9)
That is why I have returned to Washington repeatedly to work with my colleagues in the House to reopen the government and pass a funding bill that meets the needs of the American people and addresses the health care crisis that has resulted from policy decisions this Congress has made. (2/9)
🧵: The federal government shutdown has been painful for families across our community and our country. (1/9)

🎉GREAT NEWS🎉
The Supreme Court just REJECTED a challenge to the landmark decision in #Obergefell that legalized same-sex marriage across the U.S., meaning marriage equality will continue to be the law of the land! #LoveIsLove
This administration's actions are always aimed at hurting the most vulnerable. Texas foster kids aren't sure if they will be able to eat because Trump and Republicans are withholding their food assistance and using it as a political weapon. This has to stop. www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston...
