His disdain for women serving in the American military knows no bounds, to the extent that he cannot or will not acknowledge a simple fact. (He was also unable to deliver a budget on time. HASC Democrats are still waiting.)
After providing the definition of lethality to Sec. Hegseth in today's House Armed Services budget hearing, he was unable simply to agree that both men and women are capable of causing death.

On today’s Democratic Daily Download, Caucus Chair @aguilar.house.gov speaks out against the out of control Trump Administration detaining Senator Alex Padilla and preventing him from asking questions on behalf of the people he represents.
"Can you tell me what happened with the airplanes falling off the ships?" is not a question I ever thought I would ask the Acting Chief of Naval Operations, but I am pleased at his commitment to releasing the report upon completion.
I am pleased that Gen. Smith has committed to using the funds that Congress has appropriated to improve military barracks as they are intended.
During the Navy Budget Request meeting, I asked Admiral Kilby about lethality because it's the measure of an effective military. Making sure that our soldiers are fully trained and their skills optimized is what makes a force lethal, not merely the physicality of our servicemembers.
I had the pleasure of joining The Julie Mason Show to discuss how the Republicans' Big Ugly Bill harms veterans and members of our own community here in SE PA. If the Trump Admin really wants to eliminate wasteful spending, stop wasting time and money renaming battleships and military facilities.

Under the House Republican budget reconciliation bill, our country will take on trillions more in debt and rip away healthcare and food assistance from millions so the wealthiest Americans can get massive tax breaks.

Countdown is on for my 99th town hall! This month, I’ll be taking your questions on social security along with some special guests. Join us Thursday, 6/12 at 6:30 pm
Instead of delivering peace, President Trump is turning weaponry and soldiers against Americans on American soil. He is threatening to arrest a sitting Governor. This should be chilling to all Americans. This is what authoritarianism and totalitarianism looks like.
President Trump promised ‘IMMEDIATE’ peace on ‘DAY 1’ in Ukraine, and in Israel and Gaza. 140 days into this atrocious administration, there is still no peace nor any sign of it. Just grift, corruption and incompetence at a scale never seen before, here and abroad.

These decisions will undoubtedly cost many people their lives.
As a member of the Congressional Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, I'm proud to stand with my colleagues during #WearOrange Weekend as we work to #EndGunViolence
Meanwhile, the Trump Administration closed the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, slashed millions in funding for local crime prevention, and alongside Congressional Republicans, want to allocate $1.4 billion of your tax dollars to make gun silencers more accessible.
Over 100 Americans lose their lives to gun violence every day and, according to the CDC, is the leading cause of death for children and teens in the US.
This decision is in direct opposition to President Trump's talk about "protecting women" and is, instead, trying to roll back rights that we've had for over 100 years. I implore Secretary Chavez-Deremer, my House and Senate Republican colleagues to reject its erasure now.
The Women's Bureau in the Dept. of Labor has improved the welfare of working women since 1920, operating with bipartisan support for 20 presidential administrations. Instead of continuing the generations-long support for women in the workforce, the Trump Admin is proposing to eliminate it entirely.
I am glad to see the newly confirmed Secretary of the U.S. Air Force agrees with me that both the military and civilian jobs in the armed services play a crucial role in our security. I am committed to working with DoD to ensure personnel are not affected by erratic and dangerous DOGE cuts.
