Yes, if you're always hysterical, if you have one glib answer for everything ("He has dementia," "He's a Russian asset," etc), you'll sound silly and people will stop listening. But looking at 2015-25, the "This is REALLY BAD" journos were right 90% of the time. The "calm down" crew? Mostly wrong.
One reason: In mainstream political journalism, your bosses reward you for coming off as dry, unsurprisable, immune to alarm. "Everybody needs to calm down" is a signal to them that you are not volatile, and thus not prone to bad judgment. This is exactly what should not be rewarded right now. >

I think she's a terrific critic and writer and a great choice.
For your Best Supporting Actor consideration, among others: Billy Crudup, Jacob Elordi, Delroy Lindo, Kayo Martin (look him up!), Paul Mescal, Josh O'Connor, Sean Penn, Adam Sandler, Andrew Scott, Stellan Skarsgård. Del Toro is excellent in One Battle, but this doesn't need to be a landslide.
Hard bias on my part: Artists should not trash-talk other artists unless their work is morally reprehensible, period, the end. And successful artists in particular should avoid it. The defense that it's some kind of refreshing contribution to public discourse? It's not. We already have tons of that.

I checked and Baum has repeated this story in publications for a number of years so I think it's likely Stoppard knew. I read that line more suggesting the number of lives touches is incalculable rather than Stoppard literally being ignorant of the influence.
