Trump has no authority to send the National Guard into Portland. But don't just take it from me, take it from Judge Immergut — who HE appointed.
Project 2025 was always Trump’s plan. Now, he’s using the Republican Shutdown to implement it even faster.
He wants to become king. We won’t stand for it.
Thank you to KC Executive Shannon Braddock, Health Officer Dr. Valenciano, Bronti, Jennifer, and Krystina for joining me to stand against the Republican Shutdown and cuts to health care.
I’ll be holding the line to protect our care.

Trump’s treatment of immigrants is cruel, inhumane and unacceptable. And as they pump money into ICE and for-profit detention centers it will only get worse.

This Republican Shutdown is Project 2025 in action.
Trump is using this moment to inflict maximum pain on the American people — ripping away health care, raising costs, catering to his billionaire buddies, and ignoring our checks and balances like an authoritarian.
I spoke to AANHPI seniors at NAPCA's vaccine and open enrollment event about the importance of keeping our communities healthy!
In a moment where there is rampant misinformation about vaccinations, it’s so important that we have organizations like NAPCA hosting events to keep people safe.
This administration has been slashing agencies, firing hundreds of thousands of federal workers, and cancelling funding for states that stand up to them.
Democrats are fighting back.
The Statue of Liberty says “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”
Trump has already decimated our immigration system. Cutting refugee admissions cruelly risks millions of lives.

I stood with members of our community who will be harmed by Trump and Republicans’ cuts.
These aren’t just numbers, these are real people. Listen to their stories:
NEW POD: This week on The Power You Have, I broke down Trump and Republicans’ government shutdown, how we got here, and how we get out of it. Plus, I answered some of your listener questions!

ICE is out of control, and we must hold them accountable for their abuses of power.
Jackie and her four young children were kidnapped from a picnic by ICE.
Today, those kids are still missing their mother.
Listen to Jackie’s friend, Mimi, tell their story:
Republicans are hell bent on going after our reproductive rights.
They’re limiting abortion access, they’re trying to limit contraception — and at the same time they’re making the system more dangerous and expensive for all of us.
Republicans want to strip health care from millions. Democrats are fighting to stop them. Republicans won’t even negotiate to save health care.
Long story short — this shut down is on them.
Project 2025 was always Donald Trump’s plan — and every day we are seeing him inch us closer to the authoritarianism outlined in it.
We must continue to fight back.
So proud of my friend Commissioner Hamdi Mohamed for standing up for Seattle’s immigrant communities at every turn.
As we fight back against this administration’s cruelty towards immigrants, I’m grateful to have partners like Hamdi.

The Republican shutdown will cause over 200k mothers and children in Washington State to lose food assistance.
Thanks to Trump and Republicans, more people will be hungry. It’s time for them to do their jobs and end this shutdown.

Republicans are destroying our health care system by gutting Medicaid through their Big Bad Betrayal — in red and blue states.
So to deflect blame, they’re lying and pointing their fingers at undocumented immigrants — who aren’t even eligible for federal Medicaid!
Thanks to Republicans, 750,000 federal workers have been furloughed, and millions of Americans are going to lose their health care.
But Donald Trump doesn’t care. He’s too busy working on his golden ballroom.
G’mar Chatima Tova! Wishing a meaningful Yom Kippur and an easy fast to all who observe.
