I voted "NO" on House Republicans' political ploy to shield themselves from the consequences of their own agenda. Instead of doing the work of governing, they're delaying appropriations to hide devastating cuts to programs families rely on. That's not leadership—it's deception.
The U.S. military says it has recovered unidentified remains that may belong to the missing service member. In a separate incident, a U.S. service member was killed in Iraq. To my Congressional colleagues action is needed to end this war NOW. apnews.com/article/iran...
Trump has plunged the U.S. into another forever war—and Hegseth is undermining the force charged with fighting it. Instead of strengthening military readiness, Pete Hegseth is espousing racists and misogynistic policies inside the Pentagon. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/14/u...
While America's Defense Dept should be focused on real threats abroad, Sec. of Forever Wars Hegseth is fixated on imaginary enemies inside the ranks. His ideological purge targeting diversity, equity, & inclusion is blocking qualified officers, politicizing military service, and eroding readiness. 🧵
Trump still has no clear objective and no exit strategy for his failed war. He's putting American troops in harm's way, civilians are being harmed, and costs are escalating for working families. I will keep fighting to end this war and pursue a strategy rooted in de-escalation and lasting peace
Devastated that 2 U.S. servicemembers were killed & holding hope for the safe return of the missing service member. My prayers are with their families & all troops serving in the region. Their deaths are a painful reminder that endless war comes at an unbearable cost. We must end this war NOW.
CENTCOM Statement on Recently Fallen, Missing U.S. Service Members TAMPA, Fla. — On July 17, two U.S. service members in Jordan were killed in action as U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks. Additionally, one service...
We will not be fooled, & we will not yield. President Trump tried to use the bully pulpit to rewrite history and lay the groundwork for a federal takeover of elections. But our answer is not fear, our answer is participation. Register. Organize. Volunteer. Vote. www.reuters.com/legal/govern...
War is a choice. So is peace. Americans don't want endless conflict fueled by $3.3 BILLION in taxpayer dollars for more Israeli military operations while the human cost continues to rise. Palestinians and Israelis deserve peace, security, freedom, dignity, and self-determination—not more bombs.
NEWS: I’m leading a statement with 25 colleagues who are voting YES on Congressman Massie's amendment. For decades, U.S. taxpayers have funded Israeli military operations that have killed civilians & caused humanitarian catastrophes. Enough already.
Yesterday marked the 61st anniversary of the Older Americans Act, which has been a lifeline for millions. It helps fund @_MealsonWheels, senior centers, caregiver support, transportation, legal assistance, and programs that allow older Americans to remain healthy and connected in their communities.
Graphic with words: "61 years since the Older Americans Act was signed into law." Also depicted, President Lyndon B. Johnson during the signing of the act.
Graphic with the following text: "In his 2026 budget bill, Trump has kept funding for the older Americans Act flat... all while slashing Medicaid funding by nearly $1 trillion."
It was an honor to meet with Celina Stewart, the CEO of @lwv.org. Founded in Chicago, the League of Women Voters is a champion for civic education and voter engagement. Thank you, Celina, for your leadership and for the League's unwavering commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive democracy.
