Relieved there were no reports of injuries from the large fire at the Chevron refinery in El Segundo. I expect to see full and robust investigations by state and federal authorities to determine what happened, and to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

We are about to enter Day 3 of the Republican shutdown. Your regular reminders:
1. Republicans control the White House, the Senate and the House.
2. Democrats are fighting to lower costs, cancel the cuts and save healthcare for Americans.
Searches for “second job” reach an all time high.
More evidence that the policies of Trump and Republicans are crushing Americans financially.
Day 2 of the Republican shutdown. Your regular reminders:
1. GOP controls government. They control what bills get voted on and the vote thresholds for each bill. Senate GOP can pass their bad funding bill today if they felt like it.
2. Dems are fighting to lower costs and save healthcare.
The American people are smart. They know Trump and Republicans control government and Democrats do not.
LAST MONTH SENATE REPUBLICANS CHANGED THEIR DUMB RULES TO ALLOW A MAJORITY VOTE. Then can do so again.
GOP Senate can pass their bad funding bill today if they felt like it.

Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth were expecting rousing applause and standing ovations from our nation’s generals.
They were met with silence. Generals know that what Trump is doing is wrong.
Republicans control every branch of government. They could stop the shutdown today. Senate GOP can change their stupid rules to go to a majority vote, just like they did to push through Trump’s nominees. The fact that they haven’t done this shows Republicans want the shutdown.
Today is Day 1 of the Republican shutdown. Republicans control the White House, Senate and House.
Democrats have been here in DC working for the American people and fighting to lower costs, cancel cuts and save healthcare.
Where are House Republicans? ON VACATION.

It’s the day before a government shutdown... and they’re on vacation.
Tomorrow the federal government shuts down. I am here in Washington, DC with Democrats working to prevent a Republican shutdown. We are fighting to lower costs and save healthcare.

Pleased to join @salinas.house.gov last week for a tour of the programs at Easterseals Oregon and a roundtable discussion with veterans who have benefited from its services.
We will continue to fight for all those who have served this country.

This action by Secretary Hegseth is strange and causes unnecessary costs and anxiety.
We are in the 21st century. We do have technology that can connect people across the world.
Hegseth could use Signal to communicate securely…as long as he doesn’t randomly invite a reporter.
