The weaponization of the FCC to launch baseless attacks on @npr.org & @pbs.org show the bullying tactics Donald Trump will use to censor dissent. That’s why @lujan.senate.gov & I are introducing this bill that will ensure our media is protected from government attacks no matter their point of view.
🟡 NEW: Democrats are trying to rein in the FCC following a spate of regulatory actions against broadcasters that Trump doesn’t like.
As the impacts of the climate crisis worsen, it is more important than ever for congressional leaders to defend our environment, democracy, and communities. Members of the @hispaniccaucus.bsky.social, @capac.house.gov, and CBC are leading many of these efforts to protect our planet 🧵👇
Rep. Ruiz announcing legislation to designate the
Chuckwalla National Monument at a press conference,
delivering over 800,000 petitions for national monument
designations with Sen. Padilla and Rep. Chu.
Rep. Grijalva at a press conference for climate action with Sen. Markey and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez.
Rep. Johnson at a press conference in the pouring rain
calling for the expansion of the Supreme Court along
with Sen. Markey.
Rep. Barragán at a press conference calling out
polluter price gouging and the need for accountability
for big oil and gas corporations with Rep. Kamlager-Dove.
I’m concerned by Trump’s unprecedented power grab to control the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. @ferc.gov regulates our electric grid, determining electricity costs for millions of Americans. Trump’s interference in FERC could drive up prices for millions of Americans. youtu.be/PEYbxeoXzOc
Molecular diagnostics ensure cancer patients get the therapies they need in a timely manner. That’s why I’m proud to co-author the Finn Sawyer Access to Cancer Testing Act, which would ensure patients on Medicare, Medicaid, & CHIP receive testing at first diagnosis. matsui.house.gov/media/press-...
Tonight, President Trump once again misled the American people with a speech riddled with falsehoods and petty grievances—further fueling the chaos that has defined the first six weeks of his Administration. My full statement below.
Trump is claiming Republicans are going to balance the budget. Republicans don't have any actual budget plans that would do this. They have a plan to give the wealthiest Americans a tax cut.
As co-author of the CHIPS Act, I know well that securing our domestic supply chain is an economic and national security imperative. Getting rid of CHIPS would be catastrophic. We cannot and will not put up a white flag on global innovation leadership.
Trump tonight delivered his sharpest rebuke yet of the CHIPS Act yet, telling lawmakers to “get rid” of the law "and whatever's left over."
Donald Trump claims “free speech is back” while he works to censor dissent and bully our media with baseless attacks. We know he likes a news outlet he can control — and hates when the American people seek the truth.
Never has a president used a joint address to be cruel to the very people he is sworn to serve and protect. A President’s words hold weight — and have the power to crush. True leadership uses that power to uplift. This is shameful.
As a member of the @demwomencaucus.bsky.social, I’m wearing pink to protest Trump betraying women & families for his billionaire buddies. Women can’t afford Trump. We can’t afford eggs, we can’t afford attacks on our health care, & we can’t afford the discrimination & abuse by his administration.
It was wonderful meeting with Mayor Kevin McCarty, the new Mayor of Sacramento, to discuss his priorities and plans for Sacramentans. I look forward to working with him to continue delivering results for Sacramento.
It was great meeting with West Sacramento’s city manager and senior staff to celebrate the city’s achievements as well as discuss priorities for 2025. I look forward to working with them to ensure that we’re doing all we can to help and serve West Sacramentans this year.
It was great to meet with the City of Sacramento’s Acting City Manager, Leyne Milstein and her team to discuss their priorities for 2025. I’m looking forward to working with them to ensure critical federal funding remains available for the many projects that will improve the lives of Sacramentans.
I met with Kim Johnson, @calhhs.bsky.social Secretary, to discuss our home state's health priorities. I look forward to working with Secretary Johnson as we continue to make health care affordable and accessible and confront challenges during this turbulent time in our country.
Trump is weaponizing the FCC to silence broadcast media by initiating investigations into news outlets that dare to challenge Trump’s viewpoint. I urge my GOP colleagues to not allow Trump’s FCC to run roughshod over the 1st Amendment—which Republicans always claim to defend. youtu.be/-GDriO-LGDs
