The GOP promised to lower costs on day one, but Americans are only seeing their grocery bills rise. Thanksgiving dinner will cost 10% more this year. Families in Queens shouldn't be pinching pennies to put food on the table while the President builds a ballroom & updates golf courses.
No one should be subject to these dangerous & dehumanizing conditions. I'm demanding answers from Secretary Noem and Department of Homeland Security on what actions they are taking to ensure detainees are treated with dignity, humanity, and in full accordance with the law.
News reports & lawsuits detailing how female detainees in ICE facilities across the US are being held in unsafe & unhygienic conditions are deeply troubling. Accounts of detainees being forced to wear blood-soaked clothing, unable to shower are appalling.
Deeply saddened to learn that two National Guardsmen were shot near the White House this afternoon. As we continue to learn more, my thoughts are with their families and loved ones. This senseless violence has no place in our country. Everyone responsible must be held accountable.
The US is already facing a health care workforce shortage. This Administration’s move to strip nursing of its professional degree status would make nursing school even more unaffordable and out of reach for American students. This could be devastating to our health care system and patients.
E-Waste & Textiles Recycling Event: 12/7 I'm hosting an E-Waste, Textiles, & Paint Recycling Event on Sunday, December 7, 10:00am - 2:00pm, at Cunningham Park! Bring your old electronics, clothing, towels, interior & exterior paint, and more. Details👇
Turkey Giveaway: 11/22 Proud to partner with AM Larinda C. Hooks to host our annual turkey giveaway TOMORROW at the Former Chase Bank (57-02 99th St, Corona, NY 11368)! Starting at 2:00pm, turkeys will be provided at no cost, first-come, first served. Details👇
The Administration is backing off plans to kick thousands of seniors off their disability benefits. Americans said it loud and clear: hands off our Social Security. Social Security is a lifeline for millions of families & I won't stop fighting for it.
These are the same contraceptives used by millions of women & girls in the US. This Administration is trying to incinerate them. Now, we’re learning up to 20 more trucks of supplies may be unusable because they were mishandled. This is unacceptable & a threat to reproductive freedom everywhere.
This is dangerous & disturbing. I intro'd my ICE Badge Visibility Act – which requires agents to show their badges & affiliations, like many law enforcement agencies already do, to keep community members safe & ensure accountability. Transparency like this is essential to protect our communities.
Disgusting and dangerous rhetoric coming right from the President. The same kind of threats aimed at Vice President Pence on January 6th. This year alone, our country has already endured a wave of political violence. These words put every elected official at risk.
I stood with survivors of Jeffery Epstein and his associates as we learned that the Senate passed our bill to release the files. The House has spoken. The Senate has spoken. The American people have spoken. The Administration must release all of the files.
Energy prices have increased by 11% since the President took office. Between rising health care and grocery bills, families in Queens can't afford this. While the White House is busy hanging gold sconces, Americans are pinching pennies to make ends meet.
It was great to meet with Local #3 IBEW members from Queens on Capitol Hill to discuss the Tax Fairness for Workers Act — which restores critical tax deductions for union members. Unions strengthen our community. I'm always proud to stand with IBEW members✊
