1/ Republicans in Congress have proposed not only the largest cut in Medicaid in American history, but the single largest evisceration of health care in American history, period.
2/ As public education faces renewed attacks across the country, let the strength, resilience, and perseverance of those who fought for that progress—including in Delaware—inspire us as we continue the fight to advance equality in education nationwide.
1/ On this day 71 years ago, the Brown v. Board of Education decision declared segregation in public schools unconstitutional—a landmark ruling that remains the law of the land.
Today, on International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, we recommit to building a world where every person—regardless of who they are or whom they love—can live openly, safely, and with dignity and respect.
Make no mistake: the Trump administration does not care about working people. They’ll gut your health care, shrink your tax refund, and empty your wallet—all to give billionaires another tax break.
2/ House Republicans' slash and burn proposal would strip health insurance from nearly 14 million people. That’s not belt-tightening. That’s life-threatening.
1/ I took to the House floor to stand up for the nearly 1 in 4 Delawareans who rely on Medicaid—families, children, seniors, and people with disabilities whose lives now hang in the balance.
2/ I look forward to continuing to build on DSU's impactful legacy here in our state of neighbors. #HornetsRising
1/ Happy 134th Birthday, @delstateuniv.bsky.social—one of the top HBCUs in the country! For more than a century, DSU has fostered student growth, advanced academic research, and strengthened our communities through innovation.
2/ It's why I'm proud to have introduced the bipartisan FAIR Leave Act, ensuring that families who work for the same employer are entitled to the same job-protected leave as other workers.
It's time to make this law of the land.
1/ The fight for fair leave is personal. I held my husband’s hand as he took his last breath. We were lucky to have the time for him to get care and for me to be by his side—but care shouldn't depend on luck.
The final step in introducing a bill in the House is signing it—and I just did that for my latest bipartisan legislation: the FAIR Leave Act, which ensures fair leave protections for married individuals under FMLA.
2/ If Republicans pass this budget, Delaware workers and their children will lose their health care. Rural hospitals will close. Sick people will be forced to overcrowded emergency rooms.
People will die.
1/ Right now, House Republicans are marking up their budget plan that will cut Medicaid to the tune of $880 billion.
It was inspiring to meet Olivia Stevens, Delaware’s state finalist for the national Poetry Out Loud competition, last week.
Her talent is undeniable. Our conversation reminded me that when we invest in young voices, they speak volumes.
2/ Not only would this empower Delaware entrepreneurs—it would also strengthen our local economy.
1/ I'm proud to co-lead the bipartisan Equal Opportunity for All Investors Act. This legislation levels the playing field by expanding access to capital for veteran-, Black-, Hispanic-, and women-owned startups and small businesses.
I’m grateful to the veterans from Common Defense—including a Delawarean—who met with me recently to discuss how proposed cuts to the Department of Veterans Affairs would devastate veteran care.
As one veteran told me: “We need you to show up for us the way we showed up for you.” I promise I will.
To my mom, Sally, and to all the mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures out there—Happy Mother’s Day! We celebrate you today and every day. 💗
2/ I’ll always work in Congress to empower our small business owners and entrepreneurs with the support they need to create, innovate, and thrive, including access to capital.
