As this shutdown continues, it’s disappointing to see more and more federal workers furloughed or worrying about whether they’re going to get their next paycheck.

West Michigan, this Monday, October 13th, Team Scholten is hosting a Service Academy Night in Grand Haven for interested students to learn more about the U.S. Service Academies, the nomination process, and opportunities to serve.
Constituents of mine like Adam may not be alive today without NIH research and care. And yet, House Republicans and President Trump are decimating NIH funding to the tune of $280 million next year.

Republicans could open the Government TODAY with this one, very essential, commonsense provision that 78% of Americans approve of.
In this political climate, it’s pretty tough to get the majority of Americans to agree on ANYTHING. Well, here you have it, folks.
78% of Americans support extending the enhanced ACA tax credits and providing much-needed relief for our neighbors struggling to afford health care.
We remember so we will not allow the horrors of the past to be repeated. We remember so that we can continue to work towards shared peace in this region for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
Today, we remember the horrors of the Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel on October 7th. We remember the lives that were lost, we remember the communities that were changed forever by that violence and bloodshed, and we remember the hostages who remain in captivity.
The EPA is absolutely essential in its work to protect and preserve our precious natural environment. However, the government shutdown has forced them to operate at a bare-bones level, and it’s going to be devastating for our environment.

Let’s talk about the facts behind this government shutdown:
1. Democrats DIDN’T shut down the government.
2. Democrats have never proposed to give health care to undocumented immigrants.
3. We don’t have time to wait to act, because costs are already skyrocketing for millions of Americans.
To add to the list of egregious government shutdown-related concerns, it’s been brought to my attention that websites of many Inspectors General (offices specifically targeted to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in our government) are BLANK. Nowhere to be found — not even in archive form.
