The Trump administration’s latest action to bar qualified Americans from serving our country because they are trans is shameful. It’s yet another example of their bigoted agenda to strip away the civil rights of trans Americans.

To watch Trump and Vance take Putin’s side and openly insult President Zelenskyy is a great betrayal of our country’s allies and values.
I’ve met with Ukrainians in Oregon who were forced to flee their country. They know about the horrific consequences of the brutal Russian invasion because they have heard firsthand from people who have lost family members and loved ones.
Trump and Musk have fired many dedicated scientists who were doing critical work in Oregon and across the country. I went to the House floor to share a story from a fired USDA scientist in Oregon:
#ScienceFirings
Now, Trump is slashing it to the bone—just to serve his anti-science agenda. This isn’t just cruel—it’s dangerous. People will suffer. I won’t tolerate this, and neither will Oregonians. We will fight back to protect NOAA’s mission to save lives.
NOAA’s forecasts save lives. They warn farmers before extreme droughts, protect Oregon’s $642 million fishing industry, and help communities prepare for tsunami, hurricanes, and wildfires.
The Trump administration just fired hundreds of NOAA scientists—gutting the agency that protects us from deadly storms, wildfires, and climate disasters. This is an outright attack on science, public safety, and our economy.

The Trump Administration’s denial of science puts Oregonians at risk. We must hold them accountable. (6/6)
Oregon’s economy depends on a stable climate. Farmers, fishers, and outdoor recreation businesses are already feeling the damage of climate change. Letting polluters off the hook will only make things worse. (5/6)
At the same time, the House is voting to repeal EPA's methane rule, allowing more methane leaks by corporate polluters that will contaminate our air and water. (4/6)
Rolling back this finding would strip the EPA of its legal duty to regulate climate pollution. That means more emissions, more harmful air pollution, and more health risks— especially harmful for children, seniors, and low-income Oregonians and Americans. (3/6)
In 2009, the EPA made the Endangerment Finding based on science: greenhouse gases drive climate change, fueling wildfires, extreme heat, and droughts. Oregon has seen the devastating effects firsthand - families displaced, farms struggling, and communities breathing toxic air. (2/6)
Trump’s EPA is ignoring science when they deny that climate change is real and already causing devastation. Their reckless move threatens public health and safety, the economy, and the planet. (1/🧵)

I will continue to work with our colleagues in the House and Senate to protect and support the benefits, programs, and agencies - including NOAA and the Department Education - that matter to the lives and livelihoods of Oregonians.
I finished my week of town hall meetings on the North Coast with Sen. Merkley. Oregonians were clear that they want their representatives in Congress to stand up to Trump and Musk’s illegal and unconstitutional actions.
Some House Republicans claim that their budget cuts won’t affect Medicaid, but are wrong. There is no way to come up with the billions of dollars of cuts they demand without decimating Medicaid, SNAP, Pell Grants, and other vital programs.
Republicans say they’re eliminating waste. Want to talk about waste? Waste is giving billionaires big tax cuts while regular Americans struggle to put food on the table.
I am not going to vote for a budget proposal that pays for tax cuts by gutting Medicaid, SNAP, and other programs that help everyday Americans. As Leader Jeffries said, “it’s unacceptable, unconscionable, and un-American.”
