Community health centers across Central and Southern Illinois rely on Medicaid to keep their doors open. Today, I met with frontline care providers and patients at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign and Crossing Healthcare in Decatur to highlight what’s at stake if Medicaid is cut.
Kimberly, Mary and Tamika spoke at my town hall this week about the local impact of the Trump administration’s attacks on Medicaid, the Department of Education, and services for veterans. Thank you for sharing your stories!
This week, I visited Carlinville Area Hospital & Chestnut Clinic in Granite City to learn more about how they'll be impacted if they lose Medicaid funding. The $880B in Medicaid cuts being pushed by House Republicans would be devastating for the hospitals & health centers that serve our community.
House Republicans are pushing for $230 billion in SNAP cuts in order to fund massive giveaways for wealthy Americans who, frankly, don’t need another tax break. We can’t let that happen.
Delaying infrastructure projects like the planned upgrades to Cahokia Heights’ sewer system have real impacts on people’s lives. It’s time for House Republicans to stop playing political games and pass the funding our communities need. www.bnd.com/news/local/a...
Tonight, I heard directly from people across #IL13 about the issues they care most about - from protecting public education and disaster assistance to how we can work together to push back against the chaos coming out of the White House. I will never stop fighting for you.
The Trump administration has caused chaos and confusion for Illinois farmers by freezing and cancelling critical USDA programs. I was glad to meet with my Agriculture Advisory Council today to talk about the impacts they’re feeling on the ground.
Bad weather, pests, and disease can spell disaster for farmers. But safety net programs in the Farm Bill, like crop insurance, help them stay afloat so they can keep growing the food, fuel and fiber that Americans need. #FarmBill201
Tomorrow, my team is hitting the road for our monthly mobile office hours! Catch them in Monticello, Fairview Heights, Staunton, Carlinville, Virden, and East St. Louis to ask all your constituent services questions.
House Republicans have slashed funding that would have helped reduce sewage overflows in Cahokia Heights, improve public transit in Champaign, replace service lines in Harristown, and much more. Today, I heard from folks leading these critical projects just how damaging these cuts could be.
With the news that the Social Security field office in Alton may be relocating, I was glad to have the chance to meet with local seniors to hear their concerns and share how I’m fighting to protect the benefits they’ve earned.
We recently got news that DOGE is going to be making cuts to offices that administer Social Security, including here in Alton. I'm demanding answers from the Trump administration about what this means for seniors getting their hard-earned benefits.
I’m a cosponsor of Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick and @golden.house.gov’s Protect America’s Workforce Act - a bipartisan bill to restore collective bargaining rights for federal workers. We will keep fighting back against this administration’s blatant union-busting.
I joined @durbin.senate.gov in calling out the reckless decision by HHS to rip away $125 million in federal funding from Illinois health departments. I won’t stand by while Secretary Kennedy puts the health and safety of Central & Southern Illinoisans at risk.
