Visited Kansas City Habitat for Humanity in the heart of our city to hear about their mission to build homes, strengthen communities, and create opportunity. Their vision of dignity and stability for every family is one I share – and one I’ll keep fighting for in Congress.
Donald Trump and Republicans are making it harder to afford everyday expenses. Trump’s reckless tariffs are driving up the cost of essentials. And the Big, Ugly Bill makes groceries, health care, and utilities more expensive. I’m working to end this madness and make an affordable America a reality.
Whether you living in a rural town or a big city, housing is the heart of strong communities. That’s why I am proud to join my colleague, Rep. Nunn, to introduce the bipartisan Rural Housing Service Reform Act – everyone, regardless of zip code – deserve a safe, affordable place to call home.
President Trump wants to get rid of mail-in ballots. Let’s be clear: this isn’t about ‘election integrity’, it’s about silencing seniors, disabled voters, & working families. Democracy means ALL votes must be counted. www.nytimes.com/2025/08/18/u...
@housedemocrats.bsky.social believe we should be strengthening Medicaid and Medicare, not cutting them and taking away health care. House Republicans will have to own their vote rubber-stamping these cuts and jamming through Donald Trump’s Big UGLY Bill
Why are Donald Trump and House Republicans cutting Medicaid and Medicare by hundreds of billions? The answer is simple: They are taking away our hard-earned benefits so they can hand out tax breaks to their billionaire GOP donors.
New report from the nonpartisan CBO finds that Trump & Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill will force massive cuts to Medicare to the tune of $536B! Make no mistake: These cuts will make it harder for seniors to get the care they need & for health care providers to do their jobs. www.cbo.gov/publication/...
This is the time where fight or flight gives us no options. The President and Republicans chose cruelty over compassion. We’re choosing to stand our ground and to fight for the people we serve.
Republicans’ Big Ugly Law isn’t just bad policy – it’s an intentional blow to working families, affordable health care, the safety net millions depend on, and our freedoms.
Rolling out a literal red carpet for a dictator that has committed numerous war crimes & other atrocities is a moral stain on America that will not wash off easy It also does nothing to incentivize peace In fact, it encourages Putin to continue his bloodthirsty invasion of a neighboring democracy
get a load of how excited Trump is to see Putin
“Missouri is one of the hardest-hit states in the country. Since 2014, 18 hospitals have closed statewide, including at least 12 in rural counties” And when Republicans’ historic cuts to Medicaid go into effect, this crisis will only worsen. missouriindependent.com/2025/08/15/v...
When accounting for the president’s tariff taxes and the provisions of Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill, 90% of households in America come out worse off due to cuts in healthcare, food assistance, and tax increases on consumers and small businesses. Guess which 10% come out ahead.
It turns out that mass firing civil servants across the government leads to worse service for American veterans and hardworking families. Rather than slashing staff at the VA, the administration should be investing in additional care for those who served. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
