Elon Musk and President Trump claim they’re gutting federal programs to “eliminate waste and fraud.” In reality, they’re kneecapping universities, hospitals, and nonprofits in our communities that play a critical role in finding new treatments and cures for diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s.
The Trump administration's proposed medical research cuts could mean $100 million loss in Missouri #moleg #mogov via @rudikellermi.bsky.social
While President Trump and Elon Musk try to gut federal investments in medical research to fund another tax break for their billionaire buddies, I’m thankful a federal judge is blocking their illegal scheme. Democrats will continue to push back. rollcall.com/2025/02/10/t...
The CFPB is an important shield for hardworking families across the country, protecting Americans from predatory financial schemes and holding scammers accountable. As Elon Musk and President Trump work to dismantle the agency that has returned $21 BILLION to consumers, we won’t stand for it!
“We were fortunate that during our tenures in office no effort was made to unlawfully undermine the nation’s financial commitments. Regrettably, recent reporting gives substantial cause for concern that such efforts are underway today.”
“Any hint of the selective suspension of congressionally authorized payments will be a breach of trust and ultimately, a form of default,” five former U.S. Treasury secretaries write. “And our credibility, once lost, will prove difficult to regain.”
Last week, I joined @ushousefsc.bsky.social and more than 75 @housedemocrats.bsky.social in demanding the Trump Administration end their unlawful stop work order at the CFPB. We will not stand for Elon Musk and Donald Trump illegally defunding this effective and popular agency!
The CFPB has returned MORE than $2️1 BILLION to consumers. That’s precisely why Trump and his billionaire buddies want to dismantle it. Their goal is to destroy the agency so Wall Street can continue profiting off the backs of consumers without accountability. I will fight to #ReopenCFPB!
“Private-sector employers and nonprofits are starting to lay off workers as a result of the Trump administration’s sweeping cuts and funding freezes, unleashing a wave of job losses that economists say could pick up steam in the coming weeks” www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
“Tariff threats, stock market swings and rapidly reversing executive orders are causing Americans across the political spectrum to feel considerably more pessimistic about the economy than they did before President Trump took office.” Stable, competent governance matters www.wsj.com/economy/cons...
Democrats are taking action on every front to push back against Trump’s lawless attacks on our democracy. From introducing legislation to protect Americans from Trump and Musk’s schemes, to holding the Administration accountable in the courts and mobilizing to defend our values – we won't back down.
All week, I’ve received calls from Missourians who are, rightfully, furious that President Trump has allowed an unelected, unaccountable billionaire to access their private information & Treasury’s payment system. @housedemocrats.bsky.social are pushing back with the Taxpayer Data Protection Act.
Despite a federal court blocking President Trump’s disastrous funding freeze, Elon Musk and the Trump Administration appear to be illegally withholding critical Head Start funding that supports childcare for working families across the country. www.nbcnews.com/politics/don...

Having defeated @repdwightevans.bsky.social’s Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, I’m eager to get another taste of Philly’s best #Chiefsteaks after the Chiefs #RunItBack on Sunday. But why don’t we expand this year's wager? What say you @davids.house.gov @congressmanboyle.bsky.social & @scanlon.house.gov?
@cleaver.house.gov and @davids.house.gov, you’re on. You’ll both have to learn to never bet against Philly. @repdwightevans.bsky.social, @scanlon.house.gov, and I are looking forward to enjoying some of your Kansas City barbecue after Saquon and the Eagles feast on the Chiefs. GO BIRDS!

As courts gather information about the legality of President Trump’s “deferred resignation program,” a judge has extended the deadline for federal workers to respond. I continue to encourage all federal employees to seek legal counsel & speak to Union representatives before making any decision.
A federal judge just temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s exit plan for government employees until Monday.
