Imagine two shoppers pick up the exact same groceries, but one is secretly charged more. At our latest Dads Caucus meeting, @groundwork.bsky.social briefed us on how Instacart’s AI price fixing model was doing just that. Now, we’re weighing next steps to stop this kind of pricing abuse.
They got caught. They’re backing down. But this isn’t over. There needs to be a class action lawsuit. Instacart admitted it was using AI to charge different people different prices for the exact same items. Algorithmic price gouging. That scam could cost a family of four $1,200 more a year.
While Republicans decided to give Trump a $175 Billion national police force slush fund, Americans are being pushed to the brink by the affordability crisis. That’s why I introduced the Make Housing Affordable and Defend Democracy Act, to take away those funds and put them towards a housing boom.
Because of a lawsuit I helped lead against Trump, ICE FINALLY had to let us in and inspect detention facility conditions. Here’s what we know: they are not meeting the requirements of a facility that is holding people for more than 12 hours, no working kitchen, no medical personnel, no transparency.
When Republicans passed their Big Beautiful Bill they handed Trump a $175 billion slush fund to use ICE and CBP as his national police force. My bill, the Make Housing Affordable and Defend Democracy Act, takes these funds from Trump and puts them toward solving the housing affordability crisis.
Merry Christmas, LA! This year hasn’t been easy for many in our community, but we’ve met every challenge with resilience, hope, and strength. As you spend time with loved ones, may this season remind us of what matters most: family, community, and compassion.
A powerful storm is hitting LA this week right as families are getting ready for Christmas. Please stay safe, stay informed, and avoid flooded roads when traveling! Sign up for emergency alerts with @NotifyLA to keep up with the latest.
A rare High Risk has been issued: "This will pose a significant threat of flash flooding, landslides, rock falls & mud slides. The greater than normal travel during the Christmas Holiday will potentially expose a larger number of people to these life threatening hazards." -NWS Forecast Discussion
This map shows an Excessive Rainfall Outlook for Wednesday, December 24, issued by NOAA's Weather Prediction Center. It highlights potential flooding risks across California, Nevada, and parts of Arizona.

Risk Breakdown by Region
The map uses a color-coded scale to indicate the probability of rainfall exceeding flash flood guidance:

High Risk (Pink/Purple): This is the most severe category. It is centered directly over Los Angeles and surrounding coastal/mountain areas. This indicates a very high confidence in widespread, life-threatening flash flooding.

Moderate Risk (Red): Surrounds the High Risk zone, covering much of Southern California, including areas north toward Santa Barbara and south toward San Diego.

Slight Risk (Yellow): Covers a broad area including the Central Valley (Fresno), the eastern Mojave Desert, and Las Vegas, NV.

Marginal Risk (Green): Extends across Northern California (near San Francisco/San Jose), the Sierra Nevada, and into western Arizona.
The last-minute decision to pull the 60 Minutes CECOT segment looks a lot like political pressure from Trump and his allies who don’t want the public to see the consequences of his policies. This is the LEAST transparent president in American history.
Hours before 60 Minutes was set to air a story on deportees who were sent by the Trump administration to prison in El Salvador, describing “brutal and torturous conditions,” 60 Minutes announced that it has pulled the segment and will air it in the future.
EDITOR'S NOTE
The broadcast lineup for tonight's edition of
60 Minutes has been updated. Our report
"Inside CECOT" will air in a future broadcast.
This ruling is a win against Trump’s unaccountable DHS and ICE. Oversight isn’t optional. It’s our constitutional duty. As your representative, I will inspect detention facilities and make sure these agencies never operate in the shadows.
BREAKING: Court rules the Trump-Vance admin cannot block Members of Congress from conducting oversight at federal immigration detention facilities. This victory in our case comes at a critical moment where reports of people being detained, and the abuses they endure, are only growing.
I’m saddened and shocked by the loss of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele. Rob’s films shaped generations, and together they gave so much back to LA through their philanthropy & unwavering commitment to democracy. Our hearts are with their loved ones during this devastating time.
As details continue to come in on the shooting at Brown University tonight, this much is clear: two innocent people were killed, and countless others will live with this trauma for life. We cannot accept this as normal, doing nothing is not an option.
Families are seeing skyrocketing healthcare premiums right now... not in theory, not later, but today. Republicans let ACA subsidies lapse & passed their so-called big beautiful bill that cut $1 trillion from Medicaid & $200 billion from SNAP, all to give tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans.
Kristi Noem’s lies about deporting U.S. veterans shouldn’t be a surprise. She’s part of an administration that lies to Americans, to Congress, and even to itself. The deportation of combat veteran Sae Joon Park says it all. He served our country with honor and earned a Purple Heart.
