I’m glad to see Leonard Peltier finally released from prison and able to return home to serve the rest of his sentence. To all of the advocates who raised concerns about the fairness of his trial and his health conditions — thank you. apnews.com/article/leon...
I’m going LIVE on Instagram with @repbonnie.bsky.social tomorrow at 12:45pm ET/9:45am PT. We’ll be talking about Trump and Elon’s dangerous plans for our government, including the shutdown of the CFPB and cuts to Medicaid, and what you can do to stop it. Tune in tomorrow with @wtfshow.bsky.social!
This #BlackHistoryMonth, I want to highlight some remarkable Black leaders in our district. Marcia’s dedication to addressing and alleviating food insecurity is critical, and I have been so honored to support her work at the FamilyWorks’ Wallingford Food Bank!
Trump has dismantled the Aviation Security Advisory Committee. He has fired hundreds of FAA workers who did everything from maintenance and mechanics to aviation safety — and he’s threatening even more. He is putting our safety at risk. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
Trump and Secretary Rubio have said that lifesaving USAID programs, like critical food assistance, have received waivers and are exempt from the funding freeze. But those programs are saying their money is still frozen. Waivers don’t feed families. Release the damn funds.
Let’s be extremely clear about what is happening at USAID: The President is letting the wealthiest individual on the planet tear apart an organization that provides MEDICINE and FOOD to the poorest children on Earth.
Trump and Elon’s funding freeze isn’t just hurting efforts to feed hungry kids and cure deadly diseases. It’s also devastating programs that fight child sexual abuse and exploitation — literally helping criminals get away with these crimes. www.wired.com/story/doge-u...
Remember when Trump and Republicans said they were going to lower prices on day one? We’re almost one month into the Trump presidency, and he has done NOTHING to reduce costs for America’s poor and working families — in fact, his policies are actually increasing costs.
Last night, I proposed a simple amendment to Republicans’ budget resolution: A 2 cent tax on every dollar of wealth over $50 million dollars for the richest 0.05% of American households. Spoiler alert: every single Republican voted NO on making the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share.
How much of our federal budget do you think goes to USAID? 10%? 25%? 40%? Don’t let Trump and Elon lie to you — it’s 0.71%. Foreign aid is a tiny portion of our spending that does good in the world, saves lives, and advances American interests. It must be protected.
It’s always an honor to speak with my brothers, sisters, and siblings in AFGE who keep our country running every single day. In the face of Trump’s attacks on the federal workforce, I’m standing with workers — fighting for their jobs and their rights.
Before coming to Congress, I worked in global health with many USAID-funded partners and saw their essential life-saving work firsthand. Trump’s funding freeze is jeopardizing millions of lives — drug deliveries stopped, food aid halted, medical trials ended. Release the funds.
