It was so great to celebrate all the students who earned scholarships from the San Diego Foundation as they begin their next chapter at college, trade school, or graduate school. I can’t wait to see what they accomplish next!
Women should feel safe online – but too often, we don’t because of the lack of cybersecurity and data privacy protections on top of all of the harassment we face. The data breach of the Tea App is just a symptom of this larger problem and it’s time we finally take it seriously.
Believe it or not, it’s almost back-to-school shopping time and Trump’s tariffs + Trump’s inflation = higher costs for YOU!
In 2022, the House unanimously passed my bipartisan resolution condemning hunger as a weapon of war. The IDF is weaponizing food now – “easing some aid restrictions” isn’t enough. They’ve reportedly shot people seeking food and the GHF is a sham. So where are Republicans now?
Trump’s mass detention and deportation agenda could make it even harder for you to find child care in California.
Building a house is about to be a lot more expensive thanks to Trump’s tariffs.
California could lose $275 billion – that could be spent on building housing, improving transit, or lowering the cost of child care – because of mass deportations of people who aren’t criminals and who are contributing to our economy. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
Reminder: every single House Republican on the House Armed Services Committee voted AGAINST my amendment to prevent the Secretary of Defense from being able to share classified attack plans again.
Our San Diego congressional delegation has brought home over $650 million to address the Tijuana River Valley crisis and I’m so glad that this agreement will lead to more actions on both sides of the border to protect our health and safety.
Here’s something you may have missed in Trump’s Big Ugly Bill – a big increase in the estate tax exemption. Trust fund kids can now inherit up to $15 million tax free.
Rich people don't need another leg up.
Tax the rich ➡️ invest in universal child care.
Their agenda was never about “life.” It was always – ALWAYS – about control.
I was so glad to attend the 5th Annual Filipino American Friendship Festival this past weekend! I’m proud to celebrate great community building efforts like these that make San Diego stronger and brighter.
I am sickened by what we’re seeing in Gaza right now. The IDF has blocked aid while shooting people waiting in food lines for what little aid is actually coming from the sham Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. Israel needs to lift its blockade and the U.S. needs to stop sending bombs.
They lied to us. This Administration isn’t going after criminals – 72% of the people arrested by ICE in San Diego had zero criminal charges or convictions. This is the fundamentally wrong approach for people who are contributing members of our community.
Trump’s deployment of active duty Marines to Los Angeles was always unnecessary, escalatory, and an abuse of power. I’m glad they’re finally returning home and I hope they’re never treated like political tools again.
Final tally of the 940-page bill: $3.4 TRILLION added to the deficit (thanks to huge tax breaks for billionaires and corporations) and 10 million people kicked off their health insurance.
Fiscally AND morally irresponsible.
Please join me for an in-person town hall on Wednesday, July 30th at 7pm PST in Clairemont. Exact location details will be sent to attendees 48 hours before the event.

Hope to see you there!
Trump just agreed to give ICE access to the personal data of Medicaid enrollees (almost all of whom are U.S. citizens).
No one is safer because of this – and this raises serious privacy and due process concerns and could scare people away from getting health care when they need it.
We have a child care crisis: costs are WAY too high, there aren’t enough open slots, and providers can barely make ends meet.
But we can solve this!
My bill, the LEGACY Act, would raise nearly $400 million/year for child care by taxing trust fund kids.
