I'm grateful for bipartisan efforts by the Appropriations Committee in past years, which were a hallmark of our Defense Subcommittee, but I'm unable to support this year's bill. It clearly fails to meet our immense responsibility to Liberty and our armed forces in defense of the American people.
NW Ohio is home to thousands of jobs in solar manufacturing, but if we allow China to keep cheating the system they could be at risk. Senator Sherrod Brown and I led a letter urging the ITC and Department of Commerce to investigate these unfair practices. Thankfully, the ITC has heard our call.
Great to meet with members of the Air Line Pilots Association, from Ohio and across the Midwest including my former colleague Congressman John Boccieri. I will always stand with our men and women who keep us safe in the air and keep our people moving across the country and around the globe.
Thank you Donna and Jeff Heck of 33 Forever, Inc., NAMI, University of Toledo Medical Center, and members of our NW Ohio community for the partnership to break ground on Dani’s Place for those in our region battling drug addiction to receive the transitional care they need.
An honor to join Erie County Health Commissioner Pete Schade to dedicate the Kaptur-Rogowski House new Behavioral Health Transitional Supportive Housing in Sandusky. This marks a significant step forward in our efforts to provide critical support to those in need.
Delicious visit to Toft Dairy & Ice Cream Parlor this weekend in Erie County — Toft’s is Ohio’s oldest dairy. In operation for five generations, the Sandusky, Ohio dairy started in 1900.
🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨
The ITC voted to investigate whether China is cheating the system and stifling domestic solar panel manufacturing here in NW Ohio. As the home of the domestic Solar manufacturing industry, this is a major win for our hometown companies.
I will continue to work together with colleagues from both sides of the aisle to find commonsense solutions that make our children, our families, and our communities safer.
Our bill also provides de-escalation training for local education agencies and guidance to families on the importance of safe storage, while expanding SchoolSafety.gov on social media to reach a wider audience and further spread information to those who need it most.
The legislation will help ensure children do not have unsupervised access to firearms or the ability to take them without knowledge of an adult.
The IMPROVE Safety for Schools Act creates a nonrefundable tax credit of $300 to incentivize parents and guardians to purchase firearm safety devices including a gun safe, storage item, or gun lock to improve gun safety at home.
🧵On #NationalGunViolenceAwarenessDay we wear orange to bring awareness to the scourge of gun violence. With firearms now the leading cause of death for American children—I introduced the IMPROVE Safety for Schools Act with Congressman John James to promote gun safety in schools for families.
Joined American Humane, and Carson Kressley to celebrate Hero Dogs this week. Honored to meet retired United States Air Force Sergeant Micah Jones and Summer, a retired explosives-detection dog deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq with the Marine Corps before joining the Amtrak Police Department.
Today, we gratefully remember and honor those who served and sacrificed for the cause of freedom and Liberty for the entire world. We call them the Greatest Generation, and I add — the most unselfish generation. We live in their debt each and every day.
Met with Secretary of Vet Affairs to urge the Dept. of Vet Affairs to expand services and care for our NW Ohio veterans. I have worked to bring new veterans health clinics to our region and provide better care for those who defended Liberty. Honored to continue to fight for those who fought for us.
Following the Norfolk Southern derailment, East Palestine faced a crisis that shook the community to its core. Alongside Rep. Dave Joyce I introduced the East Palestine Health Impact Monitoring Act to reaffirm our commitment to their well-being, ensuring they are not left behind.
America needs partisan extremists in Washington to come to the table and work across the aisle to stop the flow of illicit drugs like fentanyl and illegal activity from traversing our borders. The President’s actions are an interim step forward.
This is a first step in the right direction, but we must do more to secure our borders. I am ready to work with both Republicans and Democrats to do what it takes to secure the border and stop the flow of drugs into the United States.
So honored to help Williams County open the new Lincoln Park Inclusive Playground in Bryan, Ohio. It was invigorating to see so many happy and smiling faces as we opened up this new gathering place that ensures equal access for all.
