When Cleveland, Ohio, hosted the NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four this weekend, something fantastic happened along the way. For the first time in NCAA Tournament history, the women's championship game had higher viewership than the men's championship game.
Honored to welcome Rossford City Councilwoman Rachel Morimoto-Tinney to attend Japanese Prime Minister Kishida's Joint Address to Congress.
Important to hear from Army, Marine Corps, and Navy at the House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee today. I thank them for their time and willingness to discuss priorities for 2025 for our armed forces at home, abroad, and in our Great Lakes Region.
Monday, I viewed the Total Solar Eclipse surrounded by thousands of children, teachers, and families at Imagination Station in Toledo, Ohio. A new generation of Ohioans got a chance to take in the wonders and see a phenomenon, something we will not witness again until 2044.
As Eid al-Fitr begins, and the Ramadan month of fasting and mindfulness comes to a close, may you find meaning and connection in time spent with family, friends, and community to guide your days ahead. #EidMubarak
Good to visit Hoen's Garden Center in Holland, Ohio. Since the Hoen brothers bought the land in the 1950’s, for four generations their family has grown and sold flowers and vegetables. Outstanding to see a locally owned family business flourish in our region of NW Ohio.
Glad to view the #SolarEclipse surrounded by so many children and families from across NW Ohio today at Imagination Station. Such an invaluable learning experience for so many about the world we live in, and the science and mysteries of the cosmos, sun, moon, and the stars above.
If you’re watching the solar eclipse today in Northern Ohio, the partial eclipse will begin at 1:56 pm and will end at 4:26 pm. The total eclipse begins at 3:13 pm with a likely duration around 1 minute and 47 seconds. Please remember, to wear proper eyewear for your own safety.
It’s not every day a town from Northwest Ohio competes for a national title. Starting tomorrow, you can vote for Maumee, Ohio to be named America’s #StrongestTown at the link below.
As we approach the Solar Eclipse this coming Monday, here is a list of fun places and activities to enjoy across Northwest Ohio. #Eclipse2024
To ensure that we support these brave families not just today, but every day, we want to hear directly from Gold Star and surviving families what support they need. Please take and share this anonymous survey to better help Congress meet your needs: forms.office.com/g/bCw9qVDnXe
On Gold Star Spouses Day we recognize those whose loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of Liberty and freedom for all. It is hard to imagine the loss these families have felt. It is an honor to pay tribute to them today.
First House Republicans derail bipartisan border security efforts — now the Senate GOP is preparing to kill the bipartisan middle class tax cut the House passed to lift children and families out of poverty. When will the partisan games stop, so we can build a better America?
Welcomed Deputy Secretary of Energy David Turk to Libbey Glass today, where a $45 Million federal investment in energy saving technologies will preserve and create jobs, strengthen our NW Ohio economy, and lower costs. Thrilled for our workers there.
Great to be back in Gibsonburg for the AgCredit annual meeting and dinner in Sandusky County. Thanks to Scott Chalfin for hosting us at his table alongside President and CEO Brian Ricker. Honored to hear from retired New York City Fire Department Lieutenant Joe Torillo, who served honorably on 9/11.
Great to welcome Chair Brenda Mallory of the White House CEQ to NW Ohio to meet with our community. We talked about the impact $28.5 Million in federal funding from the Dept. of Energy will have to revitalize Front Street, to reconnect East Toledo neighborhoods, and reinvigorate the NW Ohio economy.
Visited Wieland Chase in Williams County and discussed the work I’m doing in Congress to crack down on foreign dumping of brass into American markets and to stand up for our Steelworkers.
Even before derailments in East Palestine and Sandusky, Ohio, I supported efforts to mandate a two-person train crew to improve safety for rail workers. I applaud President Biden, the USDOT, and the Federal Railroad Administration for taking this important step forward for rail safety.
In case you missed it as they hightailed it out of town for 2.5 weeks, 80% of the dwindling House GOP majority put forth a proposal that would raise the retirement age for those already paying into #SocialSecurity. I guarantee you this would never happen on House Democrats watch.
