Hanna's life story is one that cannot be forgotten. Her strength and resilience are an inspiration to us all.
Hanna Slome escaped the horrors of the Holocaust as a young girl in Czechoslovakia. Hanna, a Flushing resident, immigrated to the United States when she was just 19. It was an honor to celebrate her 100th birthday at her Flushing home.
Wishing him a safe journey as he spends the next 8 months in space 🚀
Welcome to the International Space Station, NASA Astronaut Jonny Kim! You're inspiring the next generation of astronauts & scientists. I was proud to welcome Jonny Kim to Queens in 2022 to meet with our students & learn about his incredible life story.
We fought for this funding in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida's deadly flooding. Now, the community will continue to be at risk when hurricane season arrives on the East Coast.
NYS is sounding the alarm on the Administration's decision to cut more than $300 million in federal funding for infrastructure projects across the state.
This includes over $46M to mitigate flooding in Kissena Park.
Social Security offices are already understaffed, phone lines are overwhelmed, & the website has crashed four times.
Additional layoffs will mean delayed benefits.
Social Security is a lifeline for millions of Americans & many cannot wait on the benefits they earned after a lifetime of work.
The administration is recklessly tanking our economy & defunding our schools without any consideration for the future we're creating for our students.
The New York State Education Department recently learned that the U.S. Dept. of Education is terminating over $135M in emergency relief funding for hundreds of public & private schools across NYS.
The administration's cuts to HHS have paralyzed the World Trade Center Health Program, which provides care to the brave first responders who answered the call on 9/11.
I joined Senator Gillibrand & NY delegation members in a letter urging Secretary Kennedy to reverse these devastating cuts.
Each time we drive through this stretch of Plainview, we must think of Omer and all the hostages taken by Hamas, especially those who remain in captivity. May his memory be a blessing.
Today we honored the life of Omer Neutra, renaming a street in his hometown of Plainview, Long Island as "Captain Omer Neutra Way".
Omer was brutally murdered by Hamas on October 7th.
Prices are rising, the stock market is plunging, & hardworking Americans are footing the bill for these reckless tariffs. We've tried this play before & it didn't work.
How do we know?
Anyone...Anyone?
A great evening spent celebrating opening day at Citi Field! #LGM
I'm appalled by the Islamophobic vandalism found at NYU. These hateful acts have no place in our community or our institutions of higher education.
My team and I are continuing to monitor this ongoing investigation. Those responsible must be held accountable.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, join my team at Flanders Field VFW Post #150 in Corona tomorrow at 12:15pm as we honor all who served in Vietnam. Staff will be available to provide assistance with VA benefits, military records, service medals, & more.
Firing IRS staff, especially in the middle of tax season, means delayed returns & long wait times.
I stand with federal workers, like my constituent Juliet, who were unfairly terminated from their jobs despite working hard for the American people.
Cutting 10,000 employees from the Dept. of Health and Human Services won't make America healthy.
It leaves us less prepared to deal with outbreaks & pandemics, while hindering our leadership in scientific & medical research.
The Administration is quietly trying to end a popular and critical program to help U.S. small manufacturers.
My full statement👇
Make no mistake, consumers will pay the price for high tariffs.
The Administration has yet to take a single action to lower costs on basic needs, and now we'll only see them rise.
This trade war is reckless & hurts hardworking families the most.
