Trump promised to fix the economy and lower costs — but prices keep climbing, GDP is down, and working families are paying the price. I won’t sit back while he drags hardworking Americans down with his sinking ship.
This weekend, I had the opportunity to join congregants at Winners Church in Dumfries, Virginia. I very much enjoyed Pastor Godwin’s moving sermon, and as always, I appreciate his dedication to serving our neighbors.
After 30 years of dedicated service to the University of Mary Washington dining team, Dora Whiting is retiring. I am honored to name her as my ‘Constituent of the Week' and celebrate her impact on UMW's student body on the U.S. House floor.
We must strengthen our national defense — but cannot do so at the expense of hardworking American families. The funding cuts that extreme Republicans propose will hurt families across the Seventh District including veterans, people with disabilities, and the elderly.
As a 25-year Army veteran and former JAG prosecutor, I know how important it is to have the most lethal, best prepared military force in the world. The investments I supported will support our military families, equip our service members, and build a fighting force that can deter our adversaries.
When we hesitate to support Ukraine, we are sending a dangerous message to autocrats, especially China. If we do not stand with Ukraine, eventually American troops will be forced to fight aggressors in East Asia or Europe.
History has taught us time and again that appeasement in the face of aggression only invites escalation. We saw it in the 1930s, and we’re seeing echoes of it in the Trump Administration’s actions today. Standing with Ukraine is not charity — it is deterrence.
In Trump’s first 100 days... Prices are going up📈 401ks are going down📉 Hardworking families across Virginia and the United States should not have to pay the price — literally — for the Trump Administration’s chaos.
Bash: 64% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of inflation, 65% disapprove of his handling of tariffs, 61% disapprove of his overall handling of the economy. On immigration, 53% disapprove as well
Forcing a 4-year-old U.S. citizen with Stage 4 cancer to be deported with his mother and sister tears him from his doctors, his treatment, and his rights. This isn’t border security — it’s cruelty. American children shouldn’t be casualties of a secure border.
I remember when Trump promised to lower costs on “day one.” Now, 100 days into his administration, the economy is declining, grocery prices are soaring, families have less for essentials, and Virginians are feeling the squeeze.
I was glad to join the PWC Chamber of Commerce for a conversation with @repsuhas.bsky.social this week! We chatted about what we're most proud of from our first 100 days serving Virginians in the U.S. House and how we're working to ensure Virginia remains the best place in the country for business.
This week, I toured UVA Health's Culpeper Medical Center and met with hospital leadership. I enjoyed learning more about their thriving nurse workforce pipeline and state-of-the-art cancer treatment center. We even heard the bells that chime throughout the hospital when a baby is born!
On Tuesday, I met with business, education, government, and nonprofit leaders at the GO Virginia Region 6 Economic Development Summit. We discussed ways we can work together to ensure Virginia remains the best place to live, work, and start a business.
It’s been one month since we first learned that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth endangered American troops’ lives in #Signalgate — and now we know it’s happened more than once. Keeping him in the job is a disgrace.
