Such a pleasure to celebrate our 2025 Summer DC Interns for #InternDay! From fielding constituent calls to running memos back and forth - our interns do what's needed to serve the residents of Ohio's Third. Thank you! And shoutout to our special guest who decided to join us on the Capitol Steps! 👀
House Republicans shut down Congress early to prevent the release of the Epstein Files. Now we know why. In MAY, the Justice Department told Donald Trump that his name appears in the files. It's clear as day — Republicans are running scared.
BIG WIN: The GAO just found that the Trump’s Head Start funding freeze was ILLEGAL. Trump’s plan to eliminate the Head Start program—after 60 years of helping children and families—was a heartless attack on Ohio’s future. Now, we know it was against the law, too. 🔗Learn more HERE: bit.ly/40APy7n
The blatant hypocrisy of Trump and Congressional Republicans when it comes to the Epstein files is appalling. We're recessing early because they can't be transparent with the American people.
While Republicans slash the critical programs Americans count on, Democrats are doing the work that really matters: ✅ Engaging in our communities at home, ✅ Fighting to protect the benefits hardworking families rely on. 🔗 Want to watch the full interview? Click HERE to watch: bit.ly/3TVQkIq
Trump and Republicans’ massive cuts to PBS and NPR reflect one thing: fear. Fear of Americans having honest dialogue and speaking truth to power. I broke down these outrageous cuts—and more—in my interview with Major Garrett on The Takeout on CBS. 🎥 Watch the full interview HERE: bit.ly/452OTNt
Proud to say that my bill, the OFAC Licensure for Investigators Act, just passed the House unanimously. It would better support to our law enforcement investigations, American consumers, and the financial industry. Most importantly, it holds bad actors accountable. 🎥 my full remarks: bit.ly/3UvlLt3
Mourning the loss of a trailblazing soldier for justice—former Congressman Bill Clay Sr., Missouri’s 1st Black congressman and a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus. A fierce champion for labor, education & civil rights. His legacy lives on. Rest in power, Congressman Clay. 🕊️
While you were sleeping, House Republicans passed another cruel and reckless bill—AGAIN. They slashed billions from PBS, NPR and global assistance Congress ALREADY APPROVED. I voted NO against Trump’s DOGE disaster. Read my statement: 👉 bit.ly/4lUtblo
Public radio and TV stations that air local sports are on the chopping block in the Republican rescissions bill. The Senate passed it at 2 a.m. last night—while you were sleeping. Another late-night vote to slash what our communities rely on. The House could be up next tonight—stay tuned.
Republicans' likely approval of President Trump's recissions package tonight isn’t just a rubber stamp of DOGE’s devastating cuts – it’s an attack on the resources Americans were promised and House Republicans voted for.
As Republicans push Trump’s rescissions to slash humanitarian aid, the State Dept is set to waste $100K destroying 500 metric tons of food. Food that could feed the hungry and boost global stability. Tell me—who’s really wasting taxpayer dollars? Make it make sense.
Efforts from the Trump Admin to slash funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), is an attack on the educational resources Ohioans rely on. That's why I joined a letter with Rep. Betty McCollum and 45 Members of Congress, urging Trump to reconsider. 🔗See more here! bit.ly/4eYCoXI
Hey Members, see your staff here? 👀 They might work for you, but yesterday, they were #TeamBeatty! 😉 Staffers are what help make the Hill run — proud to have gathered with these young people for a briefing on the challenges facing Black men and boys and the solutions we can explore together!
Yesterday, I joined the Moriah Group for a briefing detailing challenges Black men and boys face in our country. Thank you to the Moriah Group for organizing this important event!
15 years ago, Dodd-Frank became law — protecting consumers and holding Wall Street accountable after the 2008 crash hit hardworking families. While Republicans try to turn back the clock and risk another crisis, Democrats are fighting to preserve the protections that safeguard our financial system.
Physical therapists save lives! I ran into two incredible physical therapists, advocating for long term solutions to protect access to critical care. Thank you, Aimee and Jessica, for everything you do! 🩺
I marched with John Lewis in Selma, Washington & Dayton for voting rights. This week, 5 years after his passing, that fight continues. Congress must pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act & the Freedom to Vote Act. 🎥 Watch my floor remarks calling for action: youtu.be/BNSAihUDRjw
ICYMI: At the 57th National Convention of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., I delivered a charge to my sorors at our social action luncheon, that applies to everyone fighting for justice. Now more than ever we must press toward all America’s promise. 🎥 Watch the full video: youtu.be/OL7lVttQWbg?...
Trump & House Republicans promised to lower costs. They lied. See how their budget raises costs on residents in our district to support billionaire tax breaks. ❌ Health care, food aid—gone for many 🎓 Higher Education—less affordable & accessible for others Some measures kick in this October.
