He doesn’t want to swear in Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva — because she would be the final vote needed on the discharge petition to release the Epstein files.

Republicans: extend the ACA tax credits and open the government.
Tax credits help keep ACA plans affordable. These tax credits will expire this year if no action is taken.
So we demanded that Republicans extend these tax credits. Without it, many Americans will simply be unable to afford health insurance and doctors appointments. Republicans refused.
There's been a lot of talk about the Affordable Care Act premium tax credits.
In Vermont, about 30k people have insurance through the ACA marketplace, called Vermont Health Connect. These plans can still be expensive, so there are tax credits to help you pay for your plan.

Trump is planning to use the shutdown as cover to purge civil servants. Mass firing federal employees and dismantling agencies has been a long-time goal.
Any shutdown layoffs are ILLEGAL. He has zero new authority to fire federal workers.

Our nation is in crisis. We are in a very dark place and Americans are scared and they want to see a way forward. We all need to start with ourselves.
My vote on the Charlie Kirk resolution today was a vote to condemn ALL political violence. My thoughts here:
The suffering in Gaza goes beyond the tragic loss of life inherent to war; at this point, the Netanyahu government’s actions appear to be a systematic, intentional destruction of the Palestinian people.
We all need to come to terms with the fact that NO ONE is safe from gun violence in America. It is going to take federal legislation to keep guns away from dangerous people. It's going to mean ending the constant demonizing and fearmongering of other people.
I'll never forget 24 years ago today finding out about the attack on 9/11. We hold the memory of the 3,000 fellow Americans in our hearts today and everyday. And we will always remember the bravery of the first responders.
Political violence is never the answer. This is NOT the way forward and has no place in a healthy democracy.
