I spent this week talking to Vermonters all over our state. One thing kept coming up over and over: the cost of living. The GOP’s attempts to distract Americans from it aren’t working. This needs to be at the top of our agenda when Congress comes back to DC.
I’ll be back in DC this week with the House in session, but my team in Vermont is always ready to help with constituent casework. If you’re a Vermonter and having an issue with a federal agency or its services, please call (802) 652-2450 or go to balint.house.gov to get in touch!

Clearly this admin doesn’t want you to know about how their Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, is tied to Jeffrey Epstein. I’m glad the House Oversight Committee picked up on that thread this week. He needs to go.
Almost 70 million Americans.   I have legislation that would increase the mental and behavioral health workforce pipeline to address shortages and provide greater payment for critical health serviced.   There's no time to waste.
More than 1 in 5 Americans live with a mental health condition. That’s nearly 70 million people.

We can and must ensure they have the resources they need.
They’re trying to force their bigoted political ideology onto another college campus. This time, my alma mater. Trans people existed long before the Trump admin was in office and they’re going to exist long after. Leave these students alone and focus on bringing down people’s everyday costs.
I wanted to talk to you today about vitamin K shots. Especially when it comes to new parents, there’s so much disinformation and misinformation going around. But this shot has proven to be safe and effective. It could save your baby’s life and spare you a lifetime of heartache.
As Trump and Republicans in Congress cut taxes for the ultra-rich and are now trying to take $1 BILLION of taxpayer money for this ballroom, Vermonters are seeing an incredibly high cost of living.   Where’s all the money in Trump’s budget for Vermonters?
A graphic that shows how much everyday costs have gone up for Vermonters
I’m honestly tired of some of my colleagues’ “elevator courage.” There are public servants across the country who are being threatened and harassed, but they’re still doing the right thing for their communities. It’s that bravery that’ll get us through this moment.
For many Americans, SSRIs aren’t optional interventions. These treatments are essential, life-sustaining care.   HHS should be focusing on the systemic drivers of our mental health care crisis, not perpetuating stigma and making unfounded claims.
Yesterday, I joined 258 colleagues from the House and Senate to demand that the Supreme Court protects access to Mifepristone.
We can’t have Republican politicians across the country playing doctor and telling Americans how to handle their own pregnancies. Mifepristone remains safe and effective.
Rep. Balint joins 258 Fellow Members of Congress, Pushes SCOTUS to Protect Access to Mifepristone
Addressing our mental health crisis - especially when it comes to our youth and veterans - is among the most important work I’m doing in Congress. It’s critical that we end the stigma and remind folks that the body doesn’t stop at the neck. Happy Mental Health Awareness Month!
One of my top priorities in Congress is addressing our mental health crisis. During Mental Health Awareness Month and otherwise, we must pursue policies that address workforce shortages and combat consolidation in the health care sector so we can ensure access to services in every community.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month
This is just a temporary win. Yet again, mifepristone was approved by the FDA 25 years ago and it’s been safe and effective for MILLIONS of women since. That doesn’t change based on whether you got the medicine at a doctor’s office or through the mail.
I’m proud to be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week this week. I’ve always been passionate about mentoring our future generations. It’s why I became a social studies teacher in the first place and why I’m energized to fight for our educators and students in Congress today.
An excerpt of a yearbook from Rep. Becca Balint’s time as a social studies teacher
People told us we were being alarmist when we said Republicans would come after our reproductive rights - overturning Roe v. Wade, allowing women to bleed out in their cars, arresting people for miscarriages, attacking contraception. But we’ve been right every single time.
