Valerie P. Foushee

Valerie Jean Foushee is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for North Carolina's 4th congressional district since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served in the North Carolina House of Representatives for the 50th district in 2012 and was appointed to represent the 23rd senatorial district in 2013. She is the first African American and the first woman to represent the district in Congress.

My visit was filled with updates & first-hand looks at the progress being made on space launch efforts, including stacking of the Space Launch System for the upcoming Artemis II mission, NASA-SpaceX Crew-11 launch, & Blue Origin’s New Glenn launch vehicle to deliver NASA and non-NASA payloads. I also had the chance to attend the July 31st SpaceX Crew-11 launch attempt to the ISS. These NASA astronauts including UNC alumna Zena Cardman, commander of the mission, will carry out research experiments made possible by NASA’s Commercial Crew and International Space Station Programs. (3/6)
