Maryland is home to over 668,000 small businesses, yet Trump's tariffs threaten millions of small business owners & the communities they serve.
During #NationalSmallBusinessWeek, let's show our appreciation for MD05 small businesses and ensure they have the tools they need to get ahead.
LOCATION CHANGE: My office’s Service Academies Showcase will take place at the Center for Performing Arts at Prince George’s Community College in Largo. (301 Largo Road, MD, 2077).
We look forward to seeing all the students and their families on Thursday, May 8th!
Trump's policies continue to have devastating consequences for the American people, who are already facing rising costs & economic uncertainty as his administration plunges our government & economy into chaos.
The Trump Admin purged thousands of IRS staffers & gave DOGE access to sensitive taxpayer data at the height of last tax season, disrupting the agency's ability to provide customer service & timely refunds in order to enable the wealthy to get out of paying what they owe.
The loss of over $98 million in @usedgov.bsky.social funding would devastate efforts to address pandemic learning loss in MD schools.
I joined @alsobrooks.senate.gov & the Maryland Democratic Delegation to urge Secretary Linda McMahon to ensure our state receives this vital funding.
I asked Trump’s Treasury Secretary whether Trump’s policies have pushed us into a recession. His answer does little to dispel Americans’ anxiety over the economic chaos coming out of the White House.
The Trump Admin's staff + budget cuts and DOGE's infiltration at the IRS does little to ease hardworking Americans' economic concerns.
Today I'm asking US Treasury Sec. Bessent about Trump's plan to support taxpayers and lower costs. Join me and @democrats-appropriations.house.gov:
I'm sorry to hear my dear friend @schakowsky.house.gov will conclude her 26 years of serving IL-09 in the House at the end of the 119th Congress.
I thank Jan for her intellect, integrity, & kindness & wish her family well as this chapter comes to a close.

Proud to join in Public Service Recognition Week amid unprecedented attacks by Trump and Musk.
From the VA to the NIH, I thank these brave workers for their service to the American people each and every day.
Join me in celebrating #MD05's own Elaina Camacho for winning Gold & Silver in Snowshoeing at the 2025 Special Olympics World Games in Turin, Italy.
I am always proud to cheer on & support our Special Olympics Maryland athletes on and off of the world stage. Congratulations, Elaina!
Trump’s budget plans put our nation's children at risk. Once again, Trump proves he does not care for the American people – only himself. My full statement on this irresponsible budget request: hoyer.house.gov/media/press-...
Congratulations to #MD05's Congressional Art Competition winner - Cynclair Wilson!
Cynclair's winning piece "Ancestral Wisdom" is a profound tribute to her ancestors & identity as an African American woman. I look forward to seeing it in the Capitol complex.

When he was six years old, Leader Jeffries’ son Joshua explained that “debacle” means “something bad.”
On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social explains how the first 100 days of Donald Trump’s presidency have been a debacle for the American people.
Republicans' cuts to Medicaid would force millions of American families to lose coverage and access to vital care.
Their efforts to cut Medicaid to fund tax cuts for the wealthy is cruel and catastrophic for the health of hard-working Americans and our nation.
Great to join a celebration tonight for this year’s recipients of the @ukrjewenc.bsky.social Sheptytsky Award, Lina Kostenko and Bernard Henry Levi.
May the moral courage that shines through their art inspire and give us strength as we continue fighting to ensure a Ukrainian victory.
Cuts to Medicaid would decimate emergency services, raise costs, & diminish reliable health care in the nation's capital.
I led a letter with @eleanornorton.bsky.social & Sen. @vanhollen.senate.gov to condemn the impact these cuts would have in our region & beyond.

Join me & @democrats-appropriations.house.gov as we discuss how the Trump Admin's efforts to privatize USPS threatens this service and our mail carriers' ability to deliver critical documents, medication, & more to every address across the country.
Tune in now: www.youtube.com/live/9qYz_yD...
I am proud to stand in solidarity with @machinistsunion.bsky.social against the Trump Admin's continued attacks on the civil service.
We are united in this fight, & we'll keep working to protect our federal employees & ensure Americans get the services they need.

What has Trump done to make Americans’ lives better in his first 100 days in office? Nothing.
In today’s Democratic Daily Download, @repbarragan.bsky.social recaps how Republicans are making life worse for Americans – raising costs and taking away health care to give tax breaks to billionaires.
