I will continue working to ensure all Marylanders get the answers and resources they need.
Tonight’s town hall hosted by Charles County Commissioner BJ Bowling was an important opportunity to engage with Marylanders about the importance of our nation’s federal employees and the vital services they provide.
The NIH contributes to Maryland’s health, safety, and economy by funding new breakthroughs for cures and creates thousands of jobs. I joined the Maryland Democratic Delegation to demand the Trump Administration rescind guidance that would cause deeply damaging cuts.

Wishing a happy birthday to my dear friend & brother John Lewis on what would be his 85th birthday.
John was a man of great integrity who lived his life with purpose. Let us honor his legacy today by causing #GoodTrouble & continuing his fight against injustice & strengthening democracy.
Federal workers, I want to hear from you:
Share with my office how Musk and Trump's actions are detrimental for you, your family, and the American people. Our federal workers across the nation make this country great – I’m standing with you.

Federal workers represent the best of us – they’re non-partisan experts and dedicated employees working to deliver for the American people. I’ll continue to stand up against these egregious, illegal attacks on our federal government employees.
When Musk and Trump target federal workers and civil servants – our nation suffers.
I am deeply disturbed by reports of a suspected terror attack in Israel involving several buses that exploded near Tel Aviv. I am relieved to learn there were no injuries or casualties from the foiled plot & will continue to closely monitor the investigation into the situation.
I join in mourning the return of murdered hostages Kfir Bibas, Ariel Bibas, their mother Shiri Bibas, & Oded Lifshitz.
These murders by Hamas deserve universal condemnation. May the memories of Shiri, Ariel, & Kfir Bibas and Oded Lifshitz be a blessing.

Make no mistake, these firings are illegal; Musk and Trump are firing dedicated employees who are helping taxpayers get it right and ensuring accountability in our tax system. I will continue to stand up against these illegal purges that harm our federal workforce and the American people.
Musk and Trump's plan to purge over 6,000 federal employees at the IRS, amid tax-filing season, undermines the agency's ability to ensure hard-working Americans get their refunds and ensure everyone pays their fair share.

President Trump's appalling comments on Ukraine dishonor America, the brave men and women defending their homeland, and all the democracies who have supported President Zelenskyy in his leadership to defeat a craven dictator.
My full statement: hoyer.house.gov/media/press-...
It has been 500 days since Hamas’ brutal attack on Israel. 73 hostages, including 5 Americans, remain in captivity - with their families continuing to live in fear and uncertainty for the future.
I will not rest until every single hostage has returned home to their families.
My office has extended the #MD05 Black History Month 2025 Essay Competition deadline to April 1st. I urge all eligible high school students to participate, & I look forward to reading your compelling essays.
Visit hoyer.house.gov/help/students to access the prompt & application form.
For 30 years, House Blue Dogs have been a crucial voice for promoting fiscal responsibility in Congress & played a key role in enacting Democratic accomplishments such as the #ACA & the #IRA.
It's been an honor to work closely with the Coalition & I look forward to continuing our work together.
Republicans want to explode the deficit while using the tax dollars of hard-working Americans to fund tax cuts for billionaires and big corporations.
Democrats will continue mobilizing against these maneuvers and working to lower costs for working families.
Thank you to all who participated in #MD05's Valentines for Vets!
My office delivered hundreds of cards to Veterans at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home and the Walter Reed Medical Center. I am proud to continue showing appreciation to & serving those who have served our country.
Thank you to all who tuned into my Virtual Town Hall with @repsarahelfrethh.bsky.social.
I also want to thank Rob Shriver & @skyeperryman.bsky.social of @democracyforward.org for their leadership in the legal battles at hand and for providing additional guidance for federal employees.

There you have it.
Every Republican on the Budget Committee just exposed our middle class to higher costs, Medicaid recipients to benefit cuts, and gutted programs that feed kids.
All this betrayal to cut taxes for their billionaire friends.
That’s it, that’s the headline.
Pete Hegseth’s comments at the UDCG meeting earlier this week severely undermine the West’s mission to support Ukraine in this war. We need to give Ukraine everything it needs to ensure its survival & security of Europe, America, & the free world.
