No politician knows a child better than their parents and doctors. But a Republican bill bans Medicaid coverage for gender-affirming healthcare. The party of so-called small government needs to get out of the doctor’s room.
One of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s last Congressional actions is to attack trans kids. That’s shameful. Her bill would throw doctors and parents in prison for providing evidence-based care to trans kids. I trust parents and doctors to do what is right for their kids. I voted NO on HR3492.
Speaker Johnson ignored a bipartisan solution to extend the ACA tax credits and bowed to President Trump instead. Millions of Americans will see premiums soar, forcing hardworking families to choose between insurance, groceries, or rent. Without health insurance, people will die.
UPDATE: @housedemocrats.bsky.social discharge petition reached 218 signatures.    This means we forced a vote to the floor to extend ACA tax credits for three years.   The voice of the American people is louder than Speaker Johnson’s & President Trump’s. I will vote YES for affordable healthcare.
The clock is ticking. Congress is in session for its final week before ACA tax credits expire. These credits help families afford healthcare. Republicans have no plan to save healthcare, but @HouseDemocrats.bsky.social and I are ready to act. Will my House GOP colleagues join us?

Spreading a little holiday cheer with my Congressional Youth Cabinet! These high school students are civically engaged leaders who help guide my work in DC on youth-related policies that impact them and their communities.
The ACA tax credits that made health insurance affordable for millions are set to expire at year’s end. This will lead to skyrocketing premiums. @HouseDemocrats.bsky.social have a plan to extend the tax credits by three years. Republicans have no plan.
Last night, we stood to remember Brown University students Ella Cook and MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, who were shot and killed. But moments of silence are not enough. I continue to fight for real action to end gun violence.
You have options for health coverage from Get Covered Illinois. Today is the last day to compare their health plans and find one that fits your needs and budget. Shop, compare, and enroll today to be protected by January 1, 2026!
Trump brags about an “A+++++ economy.” He is severely out of touch. Trump’s tariffs cost the average family nearly $1,200 this year. That’s on top of higher electric bills, grocery prices, and healthcare. You deserve better.
Affordability is not a hoax. 3 out of 10 Americans skipped medical care. 1 out of skipped meals. 2 out of 3 bought cheaper groceries. Families feel the affordability crisis every day. Wake up, President Trump. www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...
Only five legislative days remain before ACA tax credits expire, and @HouseDemocrats and I are battling for Americans' healthcare. Meanwhile, Republicans are pretending their healthcare crisis doesn’t exist.
The new red tape requirement for SNAP isn’t a path to a job. It’s a roadblock. It will push 2.4 million people off the help they count on to feed their families. We should be making life easier, not harder.
Trump’s Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, is a failure and an embarrassment to our country on the world stage. From Signal Gate to the Double Tap Strike, one thing is clear: he is unqualified and incompetent to lead the Pentagon.
This week I stood with America’s federal workers and their union rights. I voted for @golden.house.gov’s bipartisan Protect America's Workforce Act, a major step to stop and reverse Trump's union-busting tactics for over 1 million dedicated public servants.
The @houserepublicans.bsky.social and President Trump’s “PERMIT Act” is a dirty water bill. I voted NO. This bill lets polluters dodge rules that keep the Chicago River and Lake Michigan clean. This is going to hurt people’s health and increase water bills.
