I'm standing at the VA where Elon Musk decided that three veterans, three of my constituents, were waste, fraud and abuse. At a time when the VA is serving more veterans than ever before, these purges are a slap in the face to the those who have sacrificed for our country.
You can't cut the amount necessary to pay for Donald Trump's deficit-exploding tax cuts for the wealthy without cutting Medicaid. Full stop.   The poor get sicker and the rich get richer -- that's Republicans plan for America.
The CBO found that the paying for the extended Trump Tax Cuts would REQUIRE cuts to Medicaid. That's money straight out of the health care for vulnerable Americans including children & seniors. If anyone is curious to read the non-partisan, non-news article report: www.cbo.gov/publication/...
Well, well, well...🚨On Medicaid cuts, budget officials tell Republicans what they didn’t want to hear: "Democrats said the Republican budget would slash Medicaid. GOP leaders disagreed. The Congressional Budget Office just settled the debate." www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...
I was in great company today as we sounded the alarm on the Musk-Trump billionaire takeover — working to undermine Social Security from the inside out with misinformation and lies, staff firings, & field office closures. I will always stand up for Social Security.
Terri and her adult disabled daughter, Addie, have relied on Medicaid to get the assistance they need. If Medicaid is cut, it puts at risk Addie’s ability to live in the community she has lived in her whole life. #SOTU
"I was an attorney for the USDA up until Feb 14th, working to support the Forest Service and Natural Resource Conservation Service, which provides benefits directly to farmers. We thought USDA would be safe from these cuts... I was in active litigation when I was fired." #SOTU
"My team uses the CDC for unbiased, accurate information about vaccines, contraception, and other important information. Partisan politicians have no role in the CDC of this information and will not make Americans healthier." #SOTU
"I am a federal contractor working for the Social Security Administration. I fear for my job being cut. I have been in this job for nearly 14 years. I receive no Social Security benefits, but need this job for my family. " #SOTU
"I am a federal employee working for the VA and my husband is a USMC disabled veteran... We understand what cuts to the federal workforce and VA budgets means and how the effects will trickle down to affect the care and benefits veterans receive." #SOTU
I personally never thought I would be in need of Medicaid, but my Multiple Sclerosis thought differently. It is only because of the federal funds to Medicaid that I am able to pay a reasonable premium to qualify for services. #SOTU
"My team uses the CDC for unbiased, accurate information about vaccines, contraception, and other important information. Partisan politicians have no role in the CDC of this information and will not make Americans healthier." #SOTU
Allison and Justin never imagined with their levels of education they wouldn't be able to afford care for their daughter, until they faced the challenges of having a child with complex disabilities: "Medicaid has preserved our family dignity." #SOTU
Jay is a public school teacher in Milwaukee, where 70% of students live in poverty. He is terrified of what closing down the Department of Education would mean for his students, who are supported by federal funding programs like Title I. #SOTU
In lieu of any sort of live fact checking or posting, tonight I will be sharing stories from my constituents to highlight how this Administration’s chaos and dysfunction is causing harm beyond Washington D.C. Their lived experiences are far more important than Trump’s lies.
